Hi, newbie here. So excited, I just had 1 out of 6 white with black tip Japonese bantams hatch and another one has pipped.

Hey, I noticed there are a lot of hatchings going on.. Does anyone have any goslings by chance??? I would like to try to get a hold of a gander.

Hey, anyone ever make a coop for their ducks with skids? Or is that too ghetto? I have a bunch of mixed ducklings and they are outgrowing their temporary pen.

There's nothing ghetto about recycling.

Busy time of year. Between chores, family commitments and just enjoying the beautiful weather, the thread will get busy at some point.

What is a swap?

A swap is where chicken/duck crazy people show up and either a. buy or b. trade birds, equipment, eggs, homemade goods, etc. The one we have coming up is for people from this thread...and well..anyone else who wants to show up!

I officially have two of my Japanese chicks hatched.. Waiting on the other four is so hard!

Look how tiny they are... hehe so darn cute.. they hatched in my home-made incubator.. yay

Found out by candeling that I will only get three chicks out of the six eggs.. is this normal?

3 out of 6 isn't terrible. I have had better results and worse. Congratulations!

Thanks, I was hoping my Bator wasn't the problem. The chicks that hatched do not have crooked toes or splayed legs so that tells me that the temperature stayed even. So I guess it might have been a genetic defect of some sort?

I don't know about genetic defects or anything. I really don't look that far into it. I just figure I got some to hatch, yay! Lol

WE MADE IT!!!! THE RECITAL IS OVER!!! ALL WENT WELL. Of course, after all of the hours MOMMY put in taking her to class, doing the hair, the rehearsals, costumes, getting everyone there...she gets up on stage and spends her time waving at............DADDY. LOL!!!!
