Those that know me will understand this...

I totally understand the roll back into bed at this hour thing. I worked 3rd shift for years. After doing 2 swaps in 3 days (arrived at the 1st Thurs night & got home Sat night after sleeping in the car both nights, left for 2nd at 4am Sun & got home Sun evening) & sleeping in the car for most of the (not much at all) sleep I got from Thursday to Sunday I was pretty much dead the entire rest of Sunday & half of Monday.

It's not that I mind the working nights,,,for me it is more the constant changing hours, i never work the same hours 2 weeks in a row, or even the same days...I never get a chance to form one of those sleep patterns I hear so much about..

Ugh! I don't know how you do those hours, Wing. I really need to get back into the workforce...or when I do, I'll be kicked by a 4 hour shift!

I worked nutso hours for a long time too. I worked 3 part-time jobs & went to school, plus took care of 4 kids & a hubby who was an absolute slob (only 1 of the MANY reasons he's now the ex). I was lucky to get 2-3 hours of sleep in 24, mostly because he thought he should be allowed to keep me awake most of the little bit of time I actually had available to sleep.

i sometimes think all those bumps on the side of the road are put in place for people like me.
Yep, when I started hitting those bumps coming down the highway on the way home Sunday I pulled into a gas station, cracked all the windows & my daughter, the birds & I took about a 2 hour nap before we continued the rest of the almost 2 hour drive back home.

I blame my insomnia on working these hours for 20 years,,,even when I can sleep, it is only for about 4 hours at a time,,,I can fall asleep right away, I just can not stay asleep long,,,it is not unusual for me to go 2 or 3 days without sleep, besides a little cat nap here and there.

I train alot of youngsters at work and one of the things I tell them is sleep is so over rated, you better get used to going without it.

You know you need sleep when you're coming north on 95, and find yourself in Philly instead of NJ...nothing like sleeping while driving 80 mph.
