oh crud. What a day for you. Hope things look up. Do you have your chick on heat?
Yes, she is still under heat and there is room for her to move if she is overheated. I always fall in love with the runt and then I am heartbroken when they don't make it. She is just laying face down. If I pick her up to make her drink or to check on her she will peep but barely opens her eyes. To top it off I just candled the eggs in the incubator and had to throw more away. I learned my lesson. No more ebay eggs!!!

It's never easy when they are ill. Sounds like its time to put it down.

Hello! There are a ton of people from your neck of the woods! Building a coop is a good start and looking at breeds of chickens is another thing to do. Pick the breed/breeds you would like and we will do our best to help you find what you are looking for.

My favorite chick that hatched on June 5th doesn't look like it is going to make it. It is super tiny and it's breathing has always seemed heavy. Today the other two chicks starting stomping on her. I removed her and I'm making sure she drinks but she is just laying there :(

Hubby also got laid off today. 15 years in the union and he has only been laid off a few times for a week or so. This time it looks like it is going to be for at least 6 months :(

Hoping tomorrow is a better day!

If not just do a drive by on Sally's house I believe Heather's SLW roo is a Foley Um Yeah I'm sure they were from Halloween too lol
Pink FUZZY???? Do I strike you as the Fuzzy (and we're not discussing my legs here) type????? What self-respecting girl would admit to owning pink FUZZY handcuffs??? I'll have to get them out of the gun cabinet to show them to you! And what're you hmmming about?

Awww...what a totally crappy day for you indeed. Tomorrow WILL be better, at the very least it's a SATURDAY!
SOOO How many are planning on going to the picnic tomorrow?
DH and I will be there, and then you'll understand why the handcuffs HAVE to be from Halloween!

Welcome! There is a map in my signature that will let you know where most folks are from. You are ahead of the power curve in building the coop BEFORE the chickens. Just remember, DOUBLE whatever size you think you need, then DOUBLE again. Being on this thread, chicken math will occur...and if it doesn't, we'll do it for you.

Yeah, and then we'll suggest breeds you never thought of!

Has anyone ever worked with any 'Foley-line' birds? I see and read alot about his birds...just curios, they are beautiful.

I come back here to you guys to ask my questions, you all put-up with me better

I have a Foley SLW rooster. He is gorgeous, and they cost a lot of $$$. You know you are getting a good bird though. I don't even have to pluck and feathers. Mine are breeding natural. I got 2 more chicks this hatch. One of my hens died. So now I only have 1. They were old when I got them about 3 years ago. It took me so long to find a good rooster, and one that wouldn't attack humans, I just started getting pure breeds this year! This photo was taken after he was deboxed. He looks a hot mess right now from breeding/molting.
