That's awesome. Check out German, Czech/Slovak and Polish recipes, my German (1/2 of the book is actually printed in German) and Polish (also 1/2 in the original language) cookbooks have a lot of recipes with several types of meat and often fruits.
WelcomeHi! May I join you? I'm in Media, PA. I have four silkies.
really nice....that is one big apple tree....do you know what type...need to plant one of those!
You need more birds!Hi! May I join you? I'm in Media, PA. I have four silkies.
If you just dusted with DE that won't treat an already present infestation. It's only used as a preventative.Whew.... Coops cleaned and sprayed down and new bedding and de. Silkie has been dusted. Keeping fingers crossed this works. Do I have to repeat the dusting again?
Oh girl, I am with you, I will trade you the runny nose.. I have no clue what is wrong either, So I don't even know how to treat him... 1st I thought heat stroke, then Wry Neck, then Star Gazing, Merak's, Clog in his throat. No mite, no ticks, no fleas. Eyes are green with full size pupils that react to light ( they get bigger and smaller, adjusting to the light change) Legs are not spread apart (Merak's sign.right leg forward, left leg paralyzed) He shivers a little, He can't stand up, shakes his head side to side, will extend it all the way out, then pull it all the way back, almost looks like if he turns his head any further he will twist it all the way around. He peeps, He tries to eat, I give him his liquids. What else can I tell you, his poops are normal in color, today he had 3 solids and one runny poo.. I keep him in my closet at night (quite & Dark) I put him out in the living room in his little shoe box during the day. I have to keep him wrapped in a towel to keep him upright and tucked in the corner, if not he extends his legs and pushes himself on his side, legs together... hmm.. what else.. anyone have any ideas here? I am going to the Feed Store tomorrow, hopefully I can make it to them before they close at 5... sigh... I know I can't watch him be like this much longer, I don;t know if he is in pain or suffering.. or if he will recover from this. I have video if I can post it I will.. Sorry to take over your post! Good luck and God Speed with the health and recovery of your girls!! If i learned anything, I will hatch my own, have them vaccinated.. and will NEVER mix healthy with "NEW" I am in fear every day now someone else will show symptoms..I got three new hens. One has a foamy eye, the other a runny nose. They are all sneezing, coughing, and somewhat lethargic. Don't know how I didn't notice this when I got them, but it was probably because I was running on no sleep at the time.![]()
Anyway, I am really hoping that they didn't infect my flock, because they were put in with them briefly, and if it is Infectious Bronchitis, then it could have just spread through the air.![]()
I have moved my flock to a new part of the yard that the hens didn't touch, and given them new everything (bowls, hay, etc), I have moved the new hens a few miles away to my grandparents' for observation (I dont wanna risk the air infection thing) and I am feeding my flock yogurt to maybe aid somehow. I am just so worried.
Is there anything else I can do, other then taking them to the vet (just walking in is like 40 dollars up here)?
1 of each please!Sulmet is not available under that name for some reason, I keep cheaper versions in my chicken med cabinet. At some point I will take pics and explain everything I keep in it and why. We have done a lot of research on the diary thread and ozexpat knows his meds from profession so he has been Godsend to that thread! We even came across a much better cocci med. I can share with you later or if someone who is also on that thread with us can paste it here that would be cool too! Anyone who incubates is always welcome to join the thread, always some great discussion about health hatching and so on! https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/704328/diary-notes-air-cell-detatched-shipped-eggs/18510 that is also the cocci med link!

I am trying not to clean mine to much, I think I just cleaned my coop and I am ready to clean it again! Thinking of going the sand route? With shaving in the nesting box.. not all the StrawWhew.... Coops cleaned and sprayed down and new bedding and de. Silkie has been dusted. Keeping fingers crossed this works. Do I have to repeat the dusting again?
this is a very goooooooood idea..............I will do that! thanks!I had a thought. Call local scrap yards? Maybe they have some used wire..It will be a pain to straighten but perhaps you can get it cheaper. I don't know....the wire costs really surprised us as well.
