SO ..... back to all things bird related lol What is the youngest you would put your chicks outside in the coop, taking into account warmer temps etc.

I am not doing it yet, just want to get some rough ideas and other peoples take on the whole situation.

Hey Aussie:

I am not an expert on anything but, I sent my young girls out around 10weeks when the low temps were in the 50's....I'd think if they don't need a heat lamp outside is no different than inside at this time of the year....at 18weeks my girls still pile up in a scrum in two nesting boxes...and no eggs yet....

....nasty...and yes they do ruin yards, got enough of them here if anyone wants to "free-range"!!!!

Chiques....Thank you for the water bottle idea...the bator is doing great keeping the temp. stable...and the humidity...I have just been taking out a water cup when it raises and put it back in when it falls...has only been by a degree or two, so not worried about things...although, I am going to keep bottles at the ready in case some of this weather gets nasty....we do have a generator, so if I have to, there is a back-up! The bator is great...I think YOU worked all the "kinks" out of it!!...
