Pennsylvania!! Unite!!

Well I can see this is either going to be a fairly big project for the fall or its going to be the same ol same ol this winter. I moved my coops this spring farther from the house and at the top of my back hill. I don't have electricity up there but I may have to run it. It's too far from the house for an extension cord to work. If I do that, maybe I can expirement with heat tape or something. Thanks for the input!

I haven't researched it yet, but there are a couple of heating pads you can buy at a pet store...one goes under the lizard aquarium, there are heating pads for small cats/dogs...and I've heard of a heating pad you use to germinate seeds in the real early spring...

I had a hen standing in a nesting box tonight...

I'm going back to double check on her. I've NEVER not had everyone roosting. Makes me nervous. Could he be broody? Maybe laying this late?!

I've seen that with mine...figured she just fell asleep standing up....

don't know about the one for dogs or cats, but the one to germinate seeds, works really slick, you don't have to worry about water getting on it and shorting out , plastic outside and they come in all different sizes

Ran into this and would like your thoughts....have you done business with the site or the hatchery? Also, for folks close to me, its anybody interested in going in on this with me? I really don't need 5 birds.....

i am, have been a member for three or four years, have won bids on birds and had them shipped to me, have had mostly good luck with the sellers, only one ripped me off, one that was just starting to sell on the site, of course the site wouldn't do anything about her, they stay out of it, you're suppose to work it out yourselves. but on the whole, not a bad place to get from, if you can win the bid.

have eggs coming...giant alaskan pheasant.....Hey they seemed cheap,,,,,now what...I know nothing about pheasant....and my luck these would actually hatch..

really did not expect to win with such a low bid,,,but now I need to learn about pheasant,,,,incubation days....most likely a high protein food....what will i do with any that hatch...

Yeah they are good like that now lol guess I got lucky - they also just stand there and let me pick them up. They are pretty friendly

Totally unrelated to chickens but has anyone been to Disney in florida?? We are looking at going next year if a friend makes it over from australia and I was wondering if anyone has been and what they thought of it.

I first went down there when I was 17 for a graduation gift, my father and I rode Motorcycles down there and did the park thing. I use to work/live/go toschool down there in Orlando. It is nice but beware it IS a tourist trap ( they want ALL your $$). Disney world is great ($$$) for the kids and Epcot for the older kids and the adults (Beer around the world comes to mind). Lots of stuff to do and some really great resteraunts in the area. Ming Court for Asian food, and theres another one that has Dim Sum (steamed dumplings) on Sunday mornings near the school I attended, really good.

If we go we might have to do the RV option on a very nicely set out camp site - I still can't get over the price!!!

That is alot of black in a chicken,,,not sure I want the meat and blood to be black...

eggs and chicks, rather pricey but unique.

if anyone should contact the seller about chicks, please post price. I am rather curious.
Those were those ones that were posted about a while back going for like $5K each!!

Spent the morning avoiding housework lol and went and sat out with the chicks, they all now have names.

Kofi at the front, she is the smallest out of them all - I hope she doesn't turn out to be a rooster!!

Piggy, always eating something or trying too lol

Squizzy being nosey as per usual lol (Squizz in australia means to look, so "take a squizz", she is always investigating things, I think she is going to be the dominate female.

One on the right is Sneezy - first time we took her outside she started sneezing lol

Fearless

Lucky, making herself at home on my ankle - she fell asleep for about 20 mins lol
