Pennsylvania!! Unite!!

Let me know the cost including shipping. I do a lot of lessons at home with the kids and this would be a great addition to our home classroom.

BIO, I would be interested in 1 or 2 as well. I live relatively close to My peeps so if you are shipping this way, maybe I can split a shipping cost with her...if that's ok with you Peeps! I have two kids and one of them has asked for one already anyway and you know when you have two kids, they both have to have one! Little brats.

Hi All,
Was lurking and saw the threads regarding the microscope...I think I can get a microscope for anyone here who likes...I'm a teacher and our district had about a hundred fifty we've been getting rid of. I managed to get about 75 to schools in Nicaragua and I think some were slated to go to Haiti, but i think some are not yet spoken for. Before I get people started on the rant about wasting taxpayer money, the reason they're being replaced is that our modernized classrooms are just too dark (energy-efficient and smart board friendly) to use the old mirrored scopes in, so our district spent a fortune instead upgrading to electric and computer-integrated scopes. I still think the lens quality in these old workhorses is better, but hey, they don't ask me....finding them new homes has been tougher than I thought, in part because they're heavy and expensive to ship. At least in large numbers. If anyone is interested, I can check and see if I can get any, then we can figure out best way to get it to you.
welcome, where are you at? westmoreland country here
that sounds really good, and so nice of you.i'm interested

some questions:

1. which do you prefer: medicated feeds or non medicated feeds. This is for me the first time chicken owner ( soon) . I will likely purchase a few pullets.................so I don't know how old they are yet likely less than 18 weeks...........right.....more like 6 to 8 weeks or so----I am guessing............and they would need the starter food stuff...............but it comes in medicated and non medicated............which do I get and why?

2. Then I see these organic feed bags...................I am looking at Pickering Valley Feed place in Exton. Again what do you all recommend.

I am trying to get my supplies together so that when I get my babies ( I mean chickens) I will have what they need all ready!

lastly I have started to put together what I need to "grow" mealy worms!

can younger chickens...........like pullets , eat mealy worms?

thanks in advance!

If you are starting off with day old chicks then med feed is ok, however if you are starting with pullets that are closer to laying then med would not be the way to go as you will need to throw out the eggs for at least a month or so so get the meds out of their system. No oyster shells until they are laying and no layer until they are feeding. Give the highest protein that you can find as that will really help them out. I would go with Dumor starter/grower as it is 20% protien and is good. Crumbles that is. But if you can find a non med feed that is higher in protein that is a grower then go for it. As for organic that is good but I bet the animal protein is lower in it and that is what they really need. And if you are going to try and sell eggs as organic then they would have to be on it from day one or they are not considered organic.

Go to tractor supply and buy a bottom of Wazine as a dewormer. You can start them on it as soon as you get them or once you put them outside. The directions are easy to follow however I just give it to them for about 1 week then back to reg water. once they start to lay and you give it to them, the withdraw of eggs should be about 3 to 4 weeks before consuming them. At least old timers have told me to do this and no problems yet.

Hope this info helps and good luck keep up posted and post pics!!!

We're talking about Wazine not too long ago. What happens if you eat the eggs within a week of giving Wazine? Do you get sick?
