Pennsylvania!! Unite!!

BirdbyGavin it was very nice to meet you and Gavin yesterday. I started some ff with the feed today.

Busy day, cleaned out 2 very muddy, nasty smelling runs. Wheelbarrows and Pocono Mountain rocks make it hard to work. Big rocks that are apart of mountain don't make it easy for me to control the wheelbarrow. Very tired after that work!

Found a little egg in the run. I think one of my golden laced wyandottes must have started to lay. Woo hoo, does the happy dance!! I can't wait till all my young hens start to lay!

We just finished testing for Chester County 4H poultry club!! Chad Patrick Rocks!!! 69 chickens... DONE.
69??!!

That is where I got her. They all looked very healthy so I bought one. Once I got it in my cage, I noticed it coughing and sneezing a LOT. So I asked the seller and she said she never saw anything like that in her flock. She was not hesitant to give me her card and told me if I had major problems to call her. She seemed honest. The chicken sounds like a baby with a cold, all kinds of mucus and phlegm gurgling when she breathes.

I think she's a for-real Ameraucana. She has black/grey legs and the tufts. :) She doesn't have mites, but she may have scaly leg mites, I'm not sure. I have to further evaluate the situation.

You know what?!?! I think I DID see you!!! You have 2 girls right? Or maybe I'm wrong...

I have a boy and a girl. To know if it was me...do you remember seeing a devastatingly handsome man with a supermodel looking wife and two incredibly adorable children? We were right behind them.

hope you all don't mind a few more pictures! I guess that's what happens if you get new chickens.............

First let just say the girls are getting along better and its only day 2!

I had the dog crate in the run with the gate open..................initially.

After maybe an hour , I just took the crate out because it seemed to me they could find a way to avoid each other or manage.

so I just added a log for them to sit on and it provides a little barrier so that if the big girl wants to peck----the little ones can run around the log for some protection!

the little ones also found some safety by hanging out under the ramp etc............so with that as an intro here are todays pics

I'm sorry to be a downer just needed a little support. I hatched some wellsummer eggs last Saturday 5 hatched but one had something neurological wron with it just layer on its side and would spin around. Tried everything vitiamins putting her in s sling feeding her from a dropper 4x per day. She wasn't improving. Decided it was time to let her go. I just put her down and feel awful. It's terrible how attached I got to the little bugger in a week. Rooted for her to get better. Chickens get you right in the heart but I know it was time.
