We have trouble keeping eggs around here once the kids get ahold of them: scrambled. omlets, hard boiled, deviled...

I prefer rolling. I turn 3 bators by hand, often double stacked. Cartons work better for shipped eggs with loose air cells.

I have plastic ones from tsc and never seen blueish residue from acv. Is yours plastic or metal? I could maybe see that from metal ones. Do you have city water with Flouride? I always have blue tint in my bath tub from the copper pipes, but never seen it anywhere else. I say that's weird. Maybe someone else knows.

Need to clean my coop.. ugh.. Maybe I can get to it this weekend.. Change back to straw from the sand, that did a great Job of keeping the smell down during the hot days, but boy have they made a mess of the sand.. Faster than I can replace it anyway..

Anyone have any Hatching eggs and lives close to me? I only need like 4 or 5 to give to my one broody girl, I gave her 3, she broke 2 and the one did not hatch :( And she will not get off the nest I am told until she hatches.

Hey Rosie, I am about an hour Southwest of you, I have BCMs, OE and Mille Fleur Cochn Project eggs, if you'd like to hatch them. PM me if you're interested.


I've got an earache and nasty cough. I am filled with negative thoughts....that I will spare all of you. The piggies must eat, so I'm off to the feed store to get them some grub. No rest for the weary today. : )

my slw with the slightly crossed beak has a personality trait that will help her out quite nicely.....................get the food and run ..............take no prisoners............or

stand on the largest amount of food to hoard it for yourself.....................refuse to give away any ground................eat at your own pace...............be serious about it!

she acts this way to a hen 3x her size too!

she also loves...........as in LOVES cantelope!

Be patient new chicken peeps! I waited forever for that first egg, then you get little eggs, then when they get to regular size, they will A) Molt and you stop getting eggs till that is over, then B) they go broody and stop laying till they hatch a freaking egg then you have to wait about another month till she starts to lay again. Crazy Chickens... and C) They are now slow with egg production because they are getting older!! HAHAH But it is sure fun to watch them run in the morning for their scratch/veggies & fruits!! my lil "Fat Girls" heheheh

Oh quick question, something I noticed a 3 of my chickens doing, it rained Yesterday so not sure if that has anything to do with it but, it was bed time, and they are on their perchs like normal, I pet them all good night every evening when I lock them up. And the 3 where shaking there heads funny, I took one out and gave her a nice inspection I didn't see anything (no mites.fleas. etc.) Would they just have been doing that to get the rain water off? They were not soaking wet, but felt Damp?

I have a few eggs also..all mixed: CCL roo , BO, GLW, SGDorkings hens....I'm in East Whiteland,close to RT30 and Rt202....
 
Remember how I told you guys my little Americauna chick went missing? Well, I was wrong. We have a window facing the run that I look through every hour when I am home to see if the babies are alright. When I looked today, I saw a kestrel plucking feathers out of one of my babies. I almost had a heart attack- and I know what happened to my Americauna now- there were a few of her feathers laying around the day she went missing but I thought it was from stress/ the rain. Boy was I wrong.
I feel awful right now. Could you guys repost the poultry netting you guys put up for me when I asked about it? I have to go get some ASAP
