Anybody have a rooster that is friendly for sale or trade? Our just turned on me this week. Doesn't mess with my boyfriend but he chases me and tried to peck my heels! I don't run of course, Just have to blcok him, today blocked him with the egg basket. He cracked one of the eggs! This has become a weekly routine with us this week :( or anybody have any help on how to turn him back?! He was so nice! Here is a picture of him sitting on my lap when I first did the wing trimming when they were learning where home was.

I have two buffs, they are the frendly ones outta my group. The one I call momma will now peck at my feet all the way back to the house if i dont bring her treats, orrrrrr she will jump up and bite my fingers as a walk if i dont have anything for her. She is a little piggy. The other one always following me around to but isnt so food driven. I also have a sutlan, silkie, a SLW/polish mix, and two swedish hens. My silkie total baby, she will let me pick her up and do whatever to her, she doesnt care as along as shes getting loved on. My SLW and sutlan are both characters (kinda dumb) but funny to watch and def the out casts of the group. My two sedish hens were gifts, they liked to wonder which they are to blame for the reason why my hens have to stay in their run till I figure something out again so they can free range and not wonder half mile away to the turkey farm below us.

I also had two Mottled houdan Roos and polish roo. For being roos my Mottled were sweet. The one used to cuddle in my neck and go to sleep. I shouldnt have gotten rid of him i regret it now. This is the first time I have had chickens. I think it doesnt matter what breed you get it is all in how you raise them. If you raise them like they are your pets and love on them they are going to be nice and love you back. If you raise them and dont bother them or dont put in the time with them , they are going to act like wild animals and run from you. Just do you research and figure out what you want. What kinda eggs do you want? What size? Do you want a egg a day from each chicken? Do you want them for food? Or if your like me I just wanted to add some lawn ordiments, have some gardner fretilizer, and bugg control. I didnt care that much about eggs it was just a bonus. I wanted funky looking chicks.

There is a forum on there somewhere about that I read it before. The one lady said to like grab him and pin him down to show your boss and once he settles to pick him up hold him tightly against you so that he cant throw a fit. You are then suppose to take him back to where his girls are and like rough him up a little, hold him and embarrass him infront of the ladies. I dont know if this is true and I havent ever had to do it but was just a thought.

Lookie at what I caught!!! I will keep setting the trap. Gotta a few cans of dented dog and cat food for $.05 each last week. I took all they had lol, don't know how many more critters I will get.

Most of my Swedish Flower Hen flock (plus a silly silkie mix who wanted on that pen)
Some crested, most not. Five are of laying age, the rest should be in a month or two. I think there are 17, seven from purchased eggs, ten of my own. To many roosters, but I haven't decided who to keep, yet. Oh yeah, and there is a five week old in the brooder with some orpingtons.

Quote: Actually, red slates. Pretty birdies!

Thanks Stake for the link!

Brittany, your coop Taj Majal is gorgeous! I don't know if I could do something like that, but I may the wooden pallets route. I figure if I get pallets for free and I mess up, I haven't lost anything!

So tomorrow I will drive around with Hubby looking for pallets. I've already seen some nearby, I just will have to beg and plead.

Does Anyone in Bucks County sell chicks in the late winter and early spring? Thanks!
My bators never shut down so I always have at least a few chicks running around or getting ready to hatch.

Such a talkative bunch,,,it has been a hectic summer and I lost track of this thread so I do not know many of the names on here.....really looking forward to some slow down time....
Hope all is going well for those that I do know..
