..Love those girls!! ....I had asked her, but none where ready yet I guess, she said she would keep me in mind...I asked awhile ago, maybe I will bug her again...I would really like to put another 'newbie' in with the little one....so she is not knocked around too hard. I really don't know of anyone else around this area anyway. I will be in the Lancaster Co. area in October. If anyone has an idea of a breeder in that area I would be very appreciative to know. Thank you for your help Barbie!- Danielle

Also like your stones the chickens are on...is that in their run? How does that work for cleaning? Just hose it off?...I am nosy tonight, sorry...I have sand in the coop/run area, but at some point will be adding a longer/bigger run to the entire set-up...just trying to get as many ground cover ideas to think-over...

Yep that is there run, I don't hose that out at all, the rain cleans it, great drainage. I may sprinkle PZD, stall freshener sometimes. and then they get grass clippings from the lawn. the only thing I change over is in the coop, I had sand and that was nice to keep them cool in summer, I just change the e coop back to straw to keep them warmer for winter.

Hope my girls manage tonites quick cooler evening. I know they are supposed to be winter hardy........but just a few days ago it was humid and hot! Its a quick back and forth temp change.

I covered the upper roost window with a board just to take a little of the chill off for tonite.........all the other windows are open so there is plenty of air!

I know this may sound crazy..........but I actually bought fabric to make window awnings! Cant believe it but-------its just a little craft project.......:)

I am in search of plexiglass for winterizing the windows............but until I find some I also have some thicker clear plastic that might work.

Luckily next week we are supposed to have 70's weather............so its one chilly evening just to get them growing some warmer feathers and down , I hope!

Feed sacks work great for covering windows for the winter. Just staple them over. It allows some air movement for ventilation but keeps out the worst of the drafts.
