Here is the update of the coop: finally moved it to its permanent location (thanks to my resourceful brother who slid our Little Tykes wagon underneath the coop, then just wheeled it into place!). Added a removable door, and added support 2x4's to brace the legs. Made a huge difference! Just need to attached the nest box and paint. Any ideas on how to attach it securely? Thanks! I will work on the roosts later, any tips for that would be appreciated as well.
hello and HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!! ,....yes..was..uh, have been very busy....Thank you
I have new girls coming on Friday. Not sure if it will be one or two,,,hoping two.(I only have room for 2) , get to look over 3 BLRW(blue) pullets, ages 4-5 months. They are from the same breeder i received the others.
DH and I have had to complete their new home (quarantine -quarters)..still have some to do today yet though...and it is crappy out...body hates this damp-stuff
...this is were we are at right now.. ...almost finished...
I can't move my fingers now!!.....
This is a very rare breed..Buff-PomPom....
Have to finish the 'tiles' up the inside walls. Roosts/ attach ladder, lock for roof, paint outside...make 'run'-panels and attach to coop. There aren't any nest boxes because these girls are young-not laying and I can still use this for a 'grow-out'pen/ brooder/ hospital..can always add to it later. All materials we already had, even the roofing from the other coops 'lean-to'. The 'box' was from my daughter, she didn't want it anymore, so yeah...give it to me!!
..started as a box w/out the top..and here you go...coop! Only had to invest $ into a few screws/ latch & eye-hooks. Even have the paint & fencing to finish this thing..now just have to get started moving again...haahaa...
Hope you all have a good day!!! You know where I will be...
I leave my windows open in the winter, I close them if there is heavy rain or heavy windy snow. As long as the wind is not blowing directly on the chickens, I let the air flow through.
Looks great. I wanted a Pomeranian , almost got one, but got another Rottweiler. I grew a sunflower(surprise seed from last years flowers) and pumpkins for my chickens. Want to grow more things for them to eat!
