Pennsylvania!! Unite!!

:gig I went down to open the pop door to the big run. A Leghorn was standing in the door saying, "I am not going out there!" I began walking back to the house, and stopped. I went back, and shook the scratch can. One Leghorn came flying out, doing her best to stay in the air. I began dropping the scratch, and another Leghorn did the same thing! They were hopping around, trying to keep their toes warm. It was too funny! I think Leghorns are more snowbirds than we realized!:lau  Oh, and the one in the door really didn't want to come out.
Did I tell you guys that when it snowed last week, a chicken came running from the back of the coop, and slammed into the poor girl standing in the door? Shoved her right into the snow!

Today both my waterers froze for the first time ever, so out came the heated waterer. I hate the heated one though because it's not a nipple waterer, it's the open pan gravity type so it gets dirty fast. I paid a good amount of money for it though so it will be used throughout the winter!

Hello everyone

I'm new to the PA thread. Thought I'd join. I'm located in south central PA. Just south of Harrisburg.

There is a debate on hot water verses cold. I know some people don't believe it, and that is fine. But I am on the "hot water freezes faster than cold water" side. As I was making more ice for my Whiskey Sours (Hey, I have to warm up somehow!) I thought about it, and thought I would mention it.
I also had FF get icy for the first time. It wasn't the finished stuff in the barrel. It was the soaking soup stuff I gave the gang last night. I had just added water, but not feed, so it was really wet. It wasn't frozen solid. Just frosty where the liquid had settled. The waterer was frozen, so I had to set up their water heater.
I think I will sleep in the coop tonight, I swear it is warmer than the house!
