Oh MY! I didn't realize this, it's the dip in temperature that has me nervous. I hope the kids get a day off from school out of it…they're not even back yet and I can't wait to keep them home again. I hate school.Oh great, winter storm watch just popped up on my phone. 3-7" thurs afternoon/evening.![]()
Sllkie! I keep forgetting to tell you congrats on finding a new place.Keep the dang snow! I'm trying to move!
Very nice! uhhh pics or didn't happen. (had to say it…that, and I really want to see why these German New Hampshires look like)I'm exhausted, but happy ! I spent the day cleaning out and improving a pen for a quad of German New Hampshires I picked up today. Wow! the rooster is so pretty. Friendly too, the lady I got them from trains them and she caught the roo out of the cage and turned him over and held him like a baby. He just calmly watched her the whole time. The 3 hens are pretty too. They were all much large than I expected for being 8 - 10 months old. I can see why this is considered a dual purpose breed, the roo is easily twice the weight of the hens. I can't wait for them to start laying, so I can start hatching in my new (to me) incubator.
Thank you Sally, we really did have a good time. I did not do the Polar Bear Dip this year, BUT…I did the 5K. First time for me. I didn't train at all, and I think I may have messed my hip up a bit…but I finished!! DD#3 screamed 'great job Mom! you're not even last' as I came to the finish line, that got a laugh from the crowd. DH made me take my phone in case I 'needed help'.ohhhh Blarney!!! Have a wonderful time!!!
Quote: I don't 'need' any more birds either, but that seldom stops me….
Yay! The Boss oked the trip to the Farm Show for Saturday. Don't know if he's going, but I am! All he said was to not buy any chickens. The yard is not ready for them yet, so I was not planning on it. Silly man.
cutenessHappy new year everyone! I had a hen hatch out some last minute chicks on thanksgiving daythey are about five weeks old and are ready to find a home of their own. There is 6 bantam Cochins, 2 of which are FRIZZLES, and one silver spangled hamburg. They are all from my show quality birds and have been hand raised by me and will jump into your hand. I am in the harrisburg area and could meet anyone interested within a reasonable distance. Pm me if interested

My advice for Farm Show would be, dress warm enough for standing on the bus stop but not too bulky as you will be carrying your coat with you throughout the show. I usually wear a wool sweater. free admission, $10 parking, bus from parking to show. Pack your beverages and bring them with you as the drinks are pretty pricey, $3.50/Pepsi, if I remember correctly. Check out the website above for what day you want to go. The poultry is there all week, but the other livestock is not always there. Also check the arena schedules to see the shows you're interested in. We like the barrel racing so will shoot for that.
Chickenboy100, & Chippysmom: we may be there on Saturday, I'm not a name tag kinda girl, if I do decide to wear one, it will say something like 'cleopatra' , 'Queen Latifa' or 'Papa Smurf'.
