Hope everyone is well! I haven't been on in months! Just got done placing extra hay in coops and going to lock everyone in tonight because of the cccooolllldddd weather. Chickens are not cooperating with me, they want to stay out in the snow that is now falling.

welcome back!! ...try to stay warm..going to get real bad..we are going to leave the water drip from the faucets tonight..these old farm homes are just a bit cooler than the new homes..

really wish the quail would start laying again,,,,I miss these

and no, they are not the same when chicken eggs are used,,,,,

...I will be down in about ..oh wait..it is awful bad out there...man, they look so good..**why are they different then chicken eggs?..I know NOTHING about quail..only know how to hunt them..haha...

With the cold tomorrow I will keep all the chickens inside their coops with the exception of two big brahma roosters who may fight if I let them in their coop all day together.

I will pay anyone who wishes to come butter up the White Faced Spanish combs and wattles! Those brats hate being held, but their combs and the Crested Cream Legbars will for sure frost bite if it dips as low as they suggest. I need a barn did I mention that! Tired of a million tiny coops!!

Hoping everyone battens down the hatches and has no severe frostbite like last year!

I have 5 wyandottes..and 1 Marans..not too worried about the dottes, but the marans..hummmm, maybe put something on her comb?

..does that really help?, have read a lot of people doing it, but some still get it...

My CCL roos's comb was bleeding again....I just bluecoated it and I hope seals it up....I only have one other BO that I saw blood on and can't tell if its the roo's or if somebody was messing with her...waiting til tonight to look...will be closing the coop up tight tonight and have fed them extra scratch this afternoon....I may run a heat lamp out with extention cords if things get too cold....
