I have a question about Tylan 50 (antibiotic)..it says on the TSC website that it is for cattle..is this still the stuff you use for poultry?.because it is the #50..and not the higher doses?

Okay-----I have kept my cold weather worries at bay for some time.............the chickens have really seemed quite fine with the winter etc
However............
with all the hype about the wind chill temperatures on the news...............I now am trying to figure out if I should be doing something very different tomorrow.
I did already add a lot of leaves to their coop..........and run
I imagine the run leaves may not help that much due to snow probably blowing on top of them..........
Leaves in the coop are about a foot deep right now when not fully compressed by the girls.
they sleep on their roost ( 3 of them) and one sleeps in the nest box.
So my problem is the coop is small so if I kept them in they may fight over the food bowl........because its hard to move around and they may not all have access at the same time.
I don't want to put water in there because they may tip it and then it freezes etc.
So do I just let them out for a few brief adventures for water and food............and otherwise keep them shut in the coop for warmth.........OR
do I go back to not worrying.......even with the VERY COLD wind chill
OR do I make sure to put Vaseline on their combs and wattles and legs.........
Whats a caring chicken mamma to do?
this is my first winter with them and things have been fine.........but this is new territory.............
please share you many opinions!
glad you got back safe Ray!..stay warm!!Midnight drove home was not fun. I did get up to almost 40 once. Thank goodness for 4wd, one road was untouched. No problems, just slow and easy.
Calico creek pet supplies and such, they carry lots of livestock items, as well as your normal pets supplies..they also have lots of animal for sale..and a vet clinic!..in the spring they have chicks too..all different kindsWhat is Calico? And yes! I'd love to meet up, I'm surprised we're not arranging a Farm Show meet up.
LMP, sorry, I've not used Tylan, and yes, I am older than Wing, but only by a few hours or so. I did get my butt back out in the cold, got 4 more tarps up. Who says diamonds are a girl's best friend?....no way! GLOVES are! (And Muck chore boots)
Chickenboy100, I'll bet the roads are cleared by then, no worries.
