Pennsylvania!! Unite!!

One more question....where do you go or how to you find out what your loud to keep within your county or township? I guess the correct word would me ordnances ?
Call the township

My parents doesnt have a website.....My mom and step dad love my chickens and I wanted to surprise them and get them some since they talk about getting some but they haven't yet. They live near Raystown Lake. I remember my dad saying we couldn't have anything where we lived growing up. But I don't know if this is true or not. Since sometimes the will tell you anything when you are little ! :)

Britt:

Zoning ordinances can be at the county or township....sometimes townships just copy the county standards...Most likely they are posted somewhere....

I just read the pdf.... One of these days I will pay the subscription to some of those sites so I can access all the studies and trials! The truth is usually in an abstract, so many just search the web and grab info from here and there with nothing backing it up, I am a butthead, I have to have proof of everything that doesnt make sense to me! LOL

I am not sure but as far as I am aware Mareks is a virus, an infectious disease of poultry caused by a herpesvirus that attacks nerves and causes paralysis or initiates widespread tumor formation. so not being in the medical field and knowing the diference between a virus and bacteria, not sure the pdf I just read is relevent as far as the freeze drying, so do you know the difference with the two and if a virus is also in bacterial form, IDK seriously head spinning... I will ask on the diary thread, your welcome to follow along, oz is still over seas so when he comes back I have hopes to start the conversation up and see if he can help with what we need to search. I am so glad someone else is looking and trying to find stuff out, most times I am stuck doing the homework! lol

Morning everyone, I checked down at the coop at -10 below. All good, two out of four chicken nipples froze, but I just tapped them in and they dribbled water. I added water to a separate heated water bowl, it was not frozen. It felt nice and toasty inside compared to the outside. Everyone was awake and all looked healthy chipper, except of course , that they were all clamoring to get out. Not today.

I meant to answer this last night....nope. I am not the one for this job...I have not figured out Pintrest yet, maybe Danielle's daughter can teach me...

Galgo, everyone was ok last night, I've got a few who roost on top of the coop who I am a bit concerned about, I haven't gone out yet...

LMP, your hubby's got a point, I find myself having to think that way a lot. I knew the 2 x 2 pop door was open on the back coop which is why I went out to close it up and everyone was fine.
Zach did this for us. Our site is greatdanesofpa.com. I think it was only like 20-40 for the year. It was pretty easy from my understanding he used bluehost.com but then he used content management systems for the actual creation of the site.

Sally Dont you breed English Springer Spaniels?

Thanks guys! I will just have to call!! :( they live in the woods I dont see why it would be an issue but you never know!

-7 here in Pittsburgh as we speak. 10 in the coop, chickens greeted their "Daddy" when he went out to check on things. Around 11 pm last night hubby remembered that he had another light he could hook up so he went out then & did that so we currently have 2 infrared lights on. The walls of our coop are pretty thin because it originally was just a small storage shed for the mower & things. It's that flake board & it's maybe quarter inch, doesn't look like half inch but I'm not good at eyeball measurements....lol The roof is that tan corrugated plastic. The water was frozen of course so he changed that out. I'll go out again in an hour or so & check it. The integration of the 2 new birds has been going much better than I expected but today will be the real test I suppose since I won't be letting them out. I told them maybe tomorrow they could be out.....lol They have only been here a week Sunday and all of their interactions mostly were out in the run. Everything OK in the house except the radiator is ice cold in my bedroom, the rest of the rads are OK, not sure what the problem is with it, never happened before. Guess I won't worry about that right now as I have water & heat every where else so far. Hope every one else is surviving.

Was -1 here this morning. I changed out 1 of the 3 waterers which was frozen. The waterer heater in that coop is not working right. The other waterers were fine. I decided to leave the girls inside until around lunch then will let them out. They have pumpkins and scratch thrown into the straw in the coop to keep them busy for a while. They seems to be doing fine inside so far. The temp in the coop is around 20.

Brave people here, I have not ventured out yet, still sipping my coffee.....fil would have called if something seemed not right...

on a side note, I had to work late last night, did not leave work till 1:30 am....it was cccooolllddd out there....the strange part is I work in a field with mostly men ...maintenance department type men......all night long I worried that my piece of crap car would not start,,,,,well mine was one of the few that started,,,,,and they need to tell me why these men who work in the maintenance department do not carry jumper cables....as much as they make fun of me with the girl jokes,,,,seemed I had to rescue THEM last night.
