Headache was from stress, I hope putting him under got rid of it. They just finished surgery, we haven't seen him yet, but the surgeon seemed very optomistic about recovery. He does struggle with anxiety and waiting all day to go under the knife was too much and brought the headache on.

That sounds like Legg Calve Perthes (sp?) disease.

We are headed home now. They needed us out by 11 or he would have to be admitted...and apparently that is against the law or something. Still not keeping anything down, can hardly hold his head up, they slapped him in a wheel chair while he was vomiting, handed us a basin and sent us on our way.. Feeling exhausted, ****** off and beaten down. Sorry to be a bummer, I know people have it a lot worse and I should be grateful, but it is so hard to see a child struggle and be so powerless.

Vent away girl!! That is what we are here for, and honestly, after the day you had today, I would be blowing a gasket! So sorry he is reacting so poorly to the anesthetic. One thing that makes my stomach feel better (once he can hold something down) was warm Jello water. Pick his favorite flavor and mix it up about the strength you normally would. I put hot water into glass to mix it first, then enough cold water to make it comfortable to drink.

Did they give him Zofran (Odansatron) for nausea?

It is shocking that they would send him home before he has recovered from the anesthesia. I hope he is feeling better soon, it has to be so stressful for both of you.

Knowing the interior workings of a hospital as I do (my aunt was Director of Nursing at the local hospital where I grew up) I would have never allowed them to send my child out the dooor before I felt he was safe to go. Whenever you enter the hospital for any reason, in the paperwork they give you, there is always directions for the procedure to recieve additional care if you believe you are being released before you should be. It usually amounts to a request to speak to a director or other management official. They will not chance a lawsuit for refusing treatment if you follow the required procedure to request additional care.
