SINGLE thing I hate about dogs is their short lives with us but old man dalmatian can rest in peace now.

Sorry to hear...its tough losing a good pooch....

This is awesome! lol!

So, anybody interested in six EE roosters? Back in like October my cousin had wanted us to come over and butcher them because they just had way too many roosters. My Aunt in the meantime talked her out of it and decided she wanted to keep them all. And the 11 new pullets 5 old hens and the goat. Now in the middle of the worst winter we've had in recent years she's decided that she can't feed them all and can I come over and butcher them?

Problem is we don't have anywhere heated to process them and I'm not looking forward to the prospect of chicken feathers and blood all over my kitchen. D:

I love my Aunt to death. She's my Godmother too so I just have to adore her. But she drives me nuts sometimes.

I'd have much rather done this back when it was warm enough to be outside for more than five minutes without my fingers going numb and stiff. I'm honestly afraid if I try to butcher them right now I'll cut my darn hand off or something.

Seriously, if anybody's interested in some old roosters for stewing please let me know.

I'm so sick of this weather. I haven't been on this forum in awhile because I've been so busy. Along with my everyday work I've had to deal with clearing snow, cleaning up debris, and other projects. I haven't even had time to really do much for my chickens. I've just been keeping them fed and keeping the coop in decent shape. I have about 30 mature pine trees along the border of my property and even though we were lucky not to lose any, they lost some major branches from that ice storm, just about every tree. My free time had been basically spend on cleaning up these branches. I also started a side project of a workshop in my shed which has been taking up some time too. I had plans to improve my coop but I've been barely able to do basic care for my chickens, and don't have the budget. Can't wait for the spring!

Thanks to everyone for the kind words about my drawing. So sorry for everyone going through a rough time right now. Hope you all are ready for the next round of snow... Im not..

usps needs a little shove....duckies still in the mail, according to the update they have not moved since 7 last night, but we all know how well tracking updates.......I have no idea how I will get to the PO tomorrow if they do not arrive today..

My past experience with USPS tracking numbers is they're absolutely useless. D:

I've only had one experience with having chicks shipped but used to have fish shipped all the time. I swear sometimes they'd be on my doorstep and the tracking info wouldn't reflect that till like two days later

departed st paul MN at 7 last night,,,,,I am assuming by plane, but either way they should show up on tracking elsewhere by now...

I have had that happen also, tracking is only as good as the people putting the numbers in the system
I know. I was worried enough about my chicks last fall and it was in the 70's still. I remember checking the tracking info at noon the day before they were to arrive and they were at a sorting facility somewhere in the midwest. Then at like four that night it said they'd departed. And that was THE last update I got through the tracking number till after they arrived at my Post Office. I remember texting my cousin (same one with the roos I'm supposed to go butcher in this cold) and speculating on whether they'd left by plane or truck and how long it would take to get here either way. And just checking the tracking number over and over. Drove myself near nuts. I do have my fingers crossed for your little ones to arrive safely today for you. I can't even imagine worrying about my babies in this kind of cold. I'm sure they're packed with plenty of heat packs for the trip though.
