When you are selling the fathead in bulk the bigger the fish the more it costs, which is why they sell by the pound or gallon... since it obviously costs more to raise them to larger sizes... but fisherman will pay for it because if we are out looking to catch crappie or trout we use small minnows... if we are out for catfish, yellow perch or other more aggressive fish we buy the bigger minnows.

will need to look into the licensing part and what it involves,,,,

nice to know the chickens can eat some for a treat, I know the ducks will enjoy them..

II love the people that arrange to meet you to pick up multiple birds, then only have enough money for a few of the birds when they arrive. Meanwhile the poor birds spent their day in dog crates in my car, stinking it up. Perhaps they thought I would have a buy one get two free sale. Wrong.
For the first few days, I put paper towels over shavings. After a few days I pitch the towels and have a bed of shavings ready to go. Like someone else mentioned, the towels are easier on their tiny legs, plus I've had babies not realize the difference between shavings and food, so they ate shavings and died.

I do the exact same. First few days I use paper towels then I remove it and viola! clean shavings lol

If you run into A_Holes that want to play games with you(and many do)....I usually do something like this.....oh, you don't want all five....well, I was giving you a discount on quantity so they're an extra $3.xx dollars more per bird...how many do you want? If they whine, remind them they are the ones who showed up without the money to conclude the purchase they requested....If they want to waste their time and gas playing games....smile and wave goodby....my two cents....

All you from SE PA remember the big power outage, right? I lost power for 36 hours and it got so cold I couldn't sleep, even under a big pile of blankets. My first hatch of eggs were in the incubator about 8 days when it happened, and the temp inside the incubator got down to 60. They were scheduled to hatch Monday and of course nothing happened then. I was just planning today about when I would remove them and see which ones were fertile. I looked in the incubator just now and there are bits of egg shell in there, at least 2 eggs are pipped.Wow!!

I'm am so amazed by this. I don't care if they are pure or mixed, those chicks (assuming they make it the rest of the way) are survivors, and must be kept for their sheer will to live.

What do you think? Ever heard of chicks overcoming such odds? They really want to make their way in this world.

Pickering Valley Feed. I have on order one of each: a Black Australorp, Buff Orpington, Leghorn, Barred Rock, Sicilian Buttercup. Can't wait! They should be arriving next week.

I have an order at Pickering as well for March 10th week....................I understand that paper towels is often a good initial good bedding for the first week.......to help keep things dry and clean.........with frequent changing of wet paper towels.........then some pine shavings............... That is my plan when I get my chicks.

For those getting new chooks....I did paper towels with a cotton towel under it for a week...then moved to newspaper for a coupe of weeks,,,then moved to pine shavings,,,,
