I have a pekin duck that was in recovery at the time when I sold the rest of the pekin,,,not sure what I will do with her, she can not go back to the pen with the scovies, for I believe that is what injured her to begin with,,,,,,,anyone need a female pekin, if not she will most likely go to freezer

I'll trade you 2 RIR roosters for your duck :)

Would a thermostat out of stove/oven work in an incubator? If it would, where would I find it in there? I dont have a manual so looking in that is not an option.

I don't know what the variance is for an oven or hot water heater or refrigerators....etc....since I just built a cooler-bater, the thermostat I bought was accurate to .1 degree C....and you set the upper and lower limits...it cost about $20....it was an STC 1000....if you have a thermometer that is really accurate you could test, but getting accurate thermometers is as expensive too, my two cents

Hey folks:

In my neck of the woods, the hawks have just started to migrate....four or five have flown over and two have flown in....both were chased off by me....one small one and a red-tail....til the tree canopy sets be aware.....my two cents....

The duck eggs currently in the incubator.
3 1/2 dozen unknown breed from the auction
2 cayuga, to check fertility
2 ancona, to check fertility
On day 7 I will fill the rest of the bators with whatever chicken eggs I have.

Question: some of the eggs have a green tint to them. What breed could they be?

Anything mallard derived can lay greenish tinted eggs...so could be anything but scovy at this point.

Ok, I think Vicki and Mabel are the same breed and Serena and Bridget are the other. But which is Speckled Sussex and which is Ameraucana?

Your SS will not have green legs or puffy cheeks.

We stopped at TSC on the way to the grocery store. Yes, this was a planned purchase.
Dewey and I have been talking about getting some Khakis for the eggs. I really miss the eggs...
He said we could get a couple for that reason only. I knew he missed his ducks anyways. ;)

Here's the new additions and the only live purchase I will be making from TSC this year. I have done really well all season, so far, but those ducklings I couldn't resist. I have a 10-12 x 20' concrete dog kennel attached to my garage I will turn back into the duck pen. I had my 4 Khakis from last year in there before I decided no more ducks.

I am pretty darn sure I have 5 girls and 1 boy. Last year I picked all light ones and all were females. I hope I have 100% accuracy again this year!

Oh! It's my ducklings holding the new ducklings! Poor Devon was having issues with his. It kept trying to run up over his back.

So adorable!

Are the eggs really that good? This may sound really stupid, but I've always said no to ducks because we don't have a pond, and I just assumed I needed one. Are they harder than chickens?
