Is it bad that I want to sleep with the babies? Wonder if my husband would mind. My sister got to sleep with them last night. I'd probably not get any sleep for watching them.

When should I add grit to their diet? In a separate dish? Mixed with the starter feed?

Don't we all have a turtle sandbox? Lol. Ducks are awesome!!! They are kind of like cats when you think about it. Non needy and very independent. A shallow tub of water or kiddy pool and they're as happy as pigs in...well you know the saying.

ok question for the purist here, but remember I breed for meat not show....

that pen of white bresse has three rooster and 6 hens, i plan on taking 1 of the roosters out of there tomorrow but which one
1 has off color legs
1 has all the right sop, but is a real wuss, even the hens push him around
1 has it all and is top roo of the three except..........my shoe and his body has been occupying the same space here lately,

would those off color legs really matter that much?

I would give the wuss a chance, perhaps if he was alone with the hens he would snap out of his wussiness.

Wing... mean roos need to go... you'd be better off trying to find someone with an extra SOP roo they need to rehome than hoping he stops being a pain.

The 'scaredy cat' roo may surprise you once he becomes 2nd in command instead of the third wheel.... and if is the right body type then you are OK.

I think so.... we have one, used to use it for water in the run (chickens seemed to love it) but since we partially roofed the run we now use it for a dusting box and it is full of a mix of sand and ashes from the wood/coal stove. And chickens still love it...

kind of leaning that way also,,,, It is just frustrating since that mean boy just started that behavior a couple of days ago, but each day has gotten a little worse,,,, forgive the picture but I lost count of how many rounds we went today while i was cleaning out that pen.... stupid boy,,,, I had a pitchfork in my hand.... DUH....
