I need some guidance on my new chickens. I had them in the penned off section of my coop. Chippy has always been the dominant chicken of the flock. Always. Well, I let my new chickens into the coop while Chip was free ranging. They meandered out of the coop. She was literally fine with the hen but as soon as the rooster touched the grass she was one top of him and they were fighting and fighting. I figured I'd let them fight it out but when I saw the roo's comb bleeding I stopped it. She started attacking him again and he kept submitting to her but she kept beating him down anyway. When he'd defend himself she'd just be meaner. I put HER in their old pen and let them be in the yard and the coop. Did I do the right thing by separating the bully? What else should I do?

ETA the pen is inside the coop, they could always see eachother.

I would have done what you did and separate the offender... give her a 'time out' so to speak.  Give it a day and try again, she will loose standing in the flock by being separated so it may bring her back down to size, so to speak.
There will be squabbling, but it shouldn't be so horribly extreme.

Thank you. She was the only hen for a month or two after my other pair got eaten. Maybe she wants to be an only chicken

So I've gotten myself into another predicament here... Nothing new, I'm always getting myself into something lol.
Anyway, we got a text a couple of days ago from my cousin asking if we could come over and execute a white duck that she thinks killed one of the smaller ducks he's been living with for the past 2 years. I had my doubts about him having anything to do with the death of this other duck since they've been having a problem with a weasel lately. But we said we'd come over when my husband was off work. When we got there today what I saw didn't quite match up with what we'd been told. She has six smaller ducks, 3 males and 3 females in the pen with this big guy. I don't know much about ducks but they're the ones that look like little mallards. Anyway, when we went in to catch the white one we were supposed to be killing the one little drake started beathing the heck out of him. Chasing him around relentlessly and ripping feathers out of him and grabbing his tail and just going nuts on him. Seems to me it was either this little bugger or the weasel that was actually responsible for the death of the other little duck. I couldn't see killing this poor guy for a crime he hadn't committed. Besides the fact that he's about 2 yrs past the age when he'd even be any good for eating.

Now I've got this big white duck quacking around my yard and have no idea where to go with it. I posted it on my local PA swap page on facebook. But I don't know what else to do. I know we really can't keep him. But I don't know where to go with him either.

Why do I do this to myself! XD

yeah, but i have to get rid of them danielle, since bill wants to be a "snowbird" have to sell them, its too much to ask our son to take care of everything along with what he does, bill says that we might have to GIVE them away cause no one will want to buy them
