Pennsylvania!! Unite!!

We got some chicks from my daughters classroom today. I have too many chickens!!!! There are 11 4 week olds in my basement, 4 3 week old turkeys and now these 3 bantams. Ugh!! I need to stop collecting animals! Not to mention what's already out in the coop! Anyone have an idea of what we have, I'm pretty sure they are bantams.

These 2 look like easter eggers to me but they don't have the green legs.

I'm 99 percent sure that the two barreds are cockerels. Look at those combs (and they have tiny wattles) at 3 weeks old (today). The one has screwed up toes (I tried EVERYTHING to fix them, believe me) and would be a good meat bird if you're looking to grow a cockerel. They'd both be gorgeous roosters for your flock. CCL over Barred Rock which means a green egged roo. If you bred to marans you'd get gorgeous olive eggs *wiggles eyebrows*. The CCL over light brahma mix was a cockerel when I feather sexed it at 2 days old. It's a little bow-legged but gets around fine.

PM me if you'd want any :) I can hang on to them until about 8 weeks if you want but not any longer.

Yes! I just got a new thermo and it's been at 100. :)

you can add fake eggs, or even let an real egg in the nest box FOR A DAY if its not hot and show it to her and hope she understands the process.  But I have a feeling your NOT giving up that first egg, ha ha ha

Some use golf balls, easter eggs filled with sand and so forth I bought ceramics off ebay, I had egg eaters and I wish I would have had them from the start to prevent eating eggs along with knowing where to lay!

Congrats!

We got a 2nd egg!!! And it was hanging right there in the egg box. So excited :)

Today my chickens were out and I was sitting by the window, then heard a bunch of ruckus. I looked out the window and saw a fox with one of chickens in it's mouth. I grabbed the gun and chased down the fox through the woods in my socks and lost it. Then I searched around more and found my chicken walking around. I guess the fox dropped it. The chicken is fine as of now, it was bleeding very slightly where the fox grabbed it. I picked it up and brought her home. My only question though is if any diseases could have been transferred?

Quick update, it's standing still, panting, and not moving and the comb is becoming pale. I guess she's gonna die

New update, she went in the coop to roost. I guess I'll find out tomorrow it it survived

Mike:

Had similar things occur...my two hens came inside...neosporine on the wound immediately....and gave them a few days down time...they healed quickly....the roo was bitten too but wouldn't let me get near.....he toughed it out without indecent...be advised that that fox will be back.....until you shoot him or until hunting your flock gets more risky than chasing mice....my fox was a bit out of range for #6 but after a couple of shot near him he hasn't come back.....

I never disinfected the wound, is this bad?
