I have a friend with Champagne, she lives in Hamburg....close enough?

Google says that it's about 52 minutes away, that's close enough for me! If you can, i'd like her contact information. I'm starting from scratch (again) so i'd be interested in getting several from different places so i don't run into breeding problems. Thanks for the info!

I'll look into the Anconas, you can't have too many birds- right?!

Purdy:

My two cents, but let broody take care of them...I have a crew who have decided to sleep outside the grow out pen...gives me angst, but they will roost .sometime.....
Thank you Stake..she did do a good job on her own. I did put a dog crate in their area. It took her a while to figure things out, but she got the idea after a few misjudgements...they are all in and secure now! I feel so much better, we have so many predators here, to imagine them outside without real-protection..it just wasn't happening. I appreciate everyone's help with this..thank you so much!
NOPE...

That's not it either...

Update with the "other" broody...
I think she is "cooling-off"..hahaha, I put wet-cool sponges in her nest box. I did take the other one out of the coop..no-one lays this late, they are afternoon girls. When I went to close them in for the night, "broody" was roosting with the other birds on the bar!!
No-way she wanted a wet bottom again...hahaha, she had come out of the coop earlier-after I put the sponges in..well, she did NOT appreciate it at all!! She started to "Bawk-Bawk" so loud and carry on...she is getting the point....no more egg sitting!

NOT a happy hen...

I am still hanging from the fence on those ducks, just not sure what I want to do with them yet..

A suggestion,,,,in the next couple of weeks craigslist will have way to many free or cheap TSC purchases on there,,,,,that would be a good time to get those ducks and give it a try,,,, if you decide that you do not like ducks, you wouldn't have much into them and a duck roast is quite tasty,,,,
That's a great idea. Wing. I'll have to keep an eye out. Hopefully i can "plan" this a little better, like get a run set up BEFORE i get the birds. What an idea. right?! Got chicks before we had a chicken run, rabbits before hutches, children before marriage ... i'm starting to see a pattern ....

Kinda eventful day here. We had a sick raccoon stumbling around my yard in broad daylight. Only me, my mom, and the kids she babysits were home so the neighbor guy shot it. :yesss: Hopefully he'll call the Game Comission and they can tell us if it was rabid or not.

LadyBehir..I took pics of the lilac..I really hope your the who asked about this

, cause if I have been confused this whole time..you a probably like"why does she keep asking me about lilacs?!"...anyway, this is their coloring...I have 4-5 more to dig out and get into pots...so that's what?..9 plants..geesh..

here is the rabbit nest in the strawberries..I really don't want them there, but if they get moved-she will probably abandon them

wow..not cool at all...glad your neighbor got it, and I hope the Game Commish. is timely in their response!

Yes you went right past me. I'm just up from the corner of Meadow View and Milton Grove. Cider press is in my stomping grounds, my way to the turnpike, as a matter of fact. And gretna.

I just bred my champagne d' agent pair last week. They are partial pedigree from show stock. Also have Californian and new Zealand. There is a champagne d'agent breeder in Halifax. There is a new Zealand breeder in annville and a Californian breeder in mastersonville.

I have Swedish flower hens as well if you are in to heritage breeds, lol

We used to belong to the Elstonville Sportsman's Association, but gave it up because basically i felt like a member of a bar (which is great but i have two small children) - we were looking to shoot more. We went to some alpaca/llama day over your way a while back. I think watching people from Lancaster City trying to boss a Llama around that has CLEARLY had enough was much more entertaining! And in the summer, the Jigger shop is always a good place for Ice Cream. I really like Mt. Gretna....

If your interesting in getting rid of any Champagnes, Let me know. I'll be looking for several for a breeding stock. Just meat production, so i'm not too worried about the show stock. But i'm not looking to get burned like i did last time, i will not leave without proof of lines - i need to know who i can breed to who. It's been over a year and i still can't let it go.

Don't temp me with SFH, i've already got 18 hens in the brood box. I need some meat birds, Wing got me hooked on processing. Must.Get.Meat..... lol.
