OK, I'm still alive...LOL

Finally got moved, broke the screen on my cell & my son's school computer took a crap. Took me an entire month to get the stupid thing exchanged to get us back online. He didn't even get to finish his last 6 or so assignments to make it to 2nd grade....grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

He has to start as a 1st grader for a couple weeks in August to get everything finished because of their delay in replacing his computer. It's too late to even get him into the summer session now. I'm ticked! I started him in online school to avoid exactly this! His teachers at regular school couldn't figure out how to get him to read. I had him completely caught up until a week before the end of the school year when his computer died. They were so slow getting his replacement computer to me that he can't finish now until fall.

Other than that, the ex is completely out of my life now & has been since the move. YAY!!! I've lost very few birds since losing him. I lost a few during the move & 2 due to inclement weather since then, but none due to his negligence like the losses I had when he was here. Plus, the kids & I are so much happier without him around to mess things up for us.

No one cares, but there are some pips in my broody hens guinea eggs! I'm not gonna "open" the "bator" anymore until they all hatch! :ya :ya :ya

We care! :hugs

I forget what these taste like, I have been sold out daily for weeks now....

Funny thing is just a year ago family and friends got free eggs and chicken, I couldn't sell either... Now I can not keep up with demand....would really like to know why the sudden change..

Are people eating differently
Maybe because we have more traffic on our road lately
I know a few new customers are just from word of mouth.

BUT !!! I really wanted eggs for lunch, not gonna happen. The man that stopped this morning, caughtme coming out of the layer pen with egg bucket in hand, he bought every last one, and they were a little dirty due to the weather lately, he didn't care.

I think the word of mouth does it. More and more people are becoming aware of where their food comes from and they are buying differently to support change. The word of mouth is how my chicken order from you when from 3 to 7 in a couple days. :D

I was just sitting on the couch and she strolled past the front window. I was like  "PENELOPE GRACE! Get back to your babies!" so I ran outside and scooped her up, fed her some scratch, and threw her back on the nest. All of her eggs are pipped and one just started zipping. They're the queitest batch of babies I've ever seen and I find it ironic because they're guineas. I haven't heard one peep yet. Maybe she doesn't even know they're hatching.

You know it's getting real when you say the full name! Pictures? :pop

I have considered having some quail...........have not raised any but here is what I read

---you can not house the quail with the chickens because there is some type of bacteria that is harmful to the chickens

---coturnix quail can be processed at 6weeks or thereafter................and lay a lot of eggs........

--coturnix quail...........should be in a ratio of 1 male to no fewer than 4 females because they are very rough on the female.

some of the quail will incubate their own eggs but not that often........if the set up is good with a private natural nesting area.........its more likely.

quail taste more gamey................some people particularly like them wrapped in bacon

the eggs are tasty just smaller .............something like 4 quail eggs = one chicken egg and can be baked with etc

people like quail eggs for cocktail parties or for salads......

They don't need a lot of space etc............they are less winter hardy yet can get thru a winter with some good shelters........

Since they are small...........processing them involves a lot of work for the meat.....................but some people still find this beneficial and some don't think its worth it

there are less to no restrictions about raising quail in ones backyard................like no ordinances etc..........

that is what I recall and may have some minor errors...............I have never raised them and just started looking into it.

Here it is, the post I've been waiting to show you guys for 25ish days!
