Yesterday I had my silkie run open while taking care of everyone. Well, I guess that was an open invitation for my guinea hen Mojo to go in. She was happily eating the food and chirping away. The next thing I see is Mojo pecking my silkie to get her away from the food. My Muscovy ducks didn't like that and started to yell at her. Then they beat her up and chased her out. Today she stayed away from the silkie pen!

My Mojo has beaten up all my dominate roosters when she has gotten into the chicken runs. She has also beaten up my turkey hen. Well, yesterday she had met her match in my ducks. My silkies have Muscovy body guards!

Found 2 young hens (hatched Feb/Mar) trying to go broody. We don't get broody hens very often, except for some of the free-ranging hens. I moved them to a cage with next boxes and fake eggs (they were sitting happily of golf balls). IDK if they will stay broody or not. They weren't happy in the cage when I left them.

Chicken Run - they are not a mean as their expression would indicate, they were just expecting greens and got a flash instead.

okay----I am sure this will yield lots of input....................but what are the health problems associated with microwaves?

how do you know this for sure...............what are the references?

I am not saying there aren't any..............I just really like my microwave................but perhaps someone could inform me about this?

Honestly , its not something I have heard much about...........

I am open to learning..............

What do you guys recommend to treat roundworms? Ivermectin? I went to two feed stores yesterday, and the only thing I was able to find is som stuff called Rooster Booster. Not sure if I am going to return it or not. I read some less than convincing opinions on the forums here after I bought it.

I know you all probably know this stuff but for those of us who are still newer, this is a really cool breakdown of the embryonic developed of a chick in the egg. I think I'm getting excited. I've been looking at this page every day for the past week to see where we're at lol. Cookie is on day 14 and Cloud, day 12

It doesn't matter if we do know the stuff... it never gets old and is still so neat to watch as things change! You will still get excited even if it is hatch #20... I know we have had a broody epidemic here and we still get antsy about the waiting and are excited to hear those first cheeps.

Not about chickens. Has anyone here given up the microwave? Hubby and I are thinking about getting rid of ours and living without one. I was curious if anyone else had given theirs up.

We need to find new, good homes for part of our flock. We are going to start showing and breeding Call ducks, and those plus the ducks we have now will put us considerably over the limit our township allows on property our size. I posted this on our local Craig's List about three weeks ago and got quite a few responses, but unfortunately none I felt comfortable about. The last guy who called (tonight) was excited because he loves duck...for dinner. I had specifically put in my ad that these are backyard or farm ducks, not meat ducks. I even went so far as to look into buying part of the lots of the neighbors on each side of us, but their lots are already at the minimum size allowed in this subdivision

Anyway, the ones we need to rehome are:

Two Ancona drakes hatched April 7th. Anconas are on the critically endangered list.
Three Buff Orpington hens about a year old and great egg layers. Our current ducklings are from these. Buffs are on the threatened list.
Four Buff ducklings, three female, one male, hatched August 20th.

They don't all have to go to the same home, they just all have to go to a good home. I can't ship them, but I could deliver them if you live within around 20 miles, or meet you half way if you're somewhat farther away than that.

Ivermectin treats 9 types of worms while wazine only treats a couple....TSC has the 5mg pour on type....if I'm closer, I could sell you 1/2 my supply and still have way more that you or I would need....
