It is noon on Wednesday, in about half hour I will be headed to TSC, if I am not heard from n 24 hours, someone may need to post ransom.

You do know I basically go past there every day. If you really need stuff I can pick it up then drop it off after midnight on my way home from work.

I usually have DH stop after work... it helps me avoid the temptations!

Bleed out about 8 at a time and put them all in the plucker at the same time, just remember to keep your water temps down encount of the thin skin... I very rarely have any with torn skin....

Hubby uses a hedge clipper type tool since his fingers get stuck in scissors.either way, a good clean and quick cut.

thanks so much, been a few years since i went hunting with daddy, told hubby not to plan on going anywhere tomorrow, or even bringing wood up out of the pasture, we're going to do quail, looking forward to having some for supper

have a few fresh purple hull peas , christmas beans to go with them, supper that i grew up with, only momma did the cooking and she was an excellent cook

my little broody house that I threw together last night. I got it painted and in place today but hubby and I need to build a run for it still. Hopeing by tomorrow we can move Cookie in.

Adorable looking new family! The broody hut looks good also! Are those roosting perches I see slid in them? If so, they will work good after the chicks are 3 or 4 weeks but could probably be pulled out until then if it would make it easier for you to access them.
Love the 'non-slip' under carpet mat stuff you have down... that stuff is awesome.
and as a temporary thing until you get a secure run built around it..... fashion a solid door for them, the sounds of peeps can really attract unwanted attention and raccoons can work simple latches.

Question. .. again. My first born chick is looking rather splay-legged today. I made little "shackles" or of medical tape and gave it back to his mommy. Will that work? I also put a more grippy floor in there for them. How long does he need the shackles to stay in and will he be ok with them on under Cookie's care? He kept falling over once I put them on.

We had a similar problem with some of our turkeys when they hatched and after research did the following and it worked very well.

Cut a standard bandaid in half lengthwise. The bandage pad will be used as the appropriate length leg width spacer. Wrap one side around each leg. By using bandaids/bandages they are much easier to remove.

Thanks! Yes those are roosts thrown in there but they're out of the way to get to the chicks. I made it so it can be a broody coop, seperation/isolation coop, or seperated breeding pen. I told hubby I need 3 interchangeable signs saying "maternity ward", "brothel", and "infirmary" lol. The nonslip thing was something hubby had laying around that he got for lining his tool box drawers when he used to work in a garage. I threw that in there when I saw my first bornbabywas getting splayed legs. In my hurry to get them out of the coop I had forgotten about slippery floors. I'll do my best to secure that run. I definitely don't want to lose any more babies.

maybe I'll try that tomorrow. Any idea how long you need to keep the bandage on for it to work? Right now I'm using medical tape and the gap in between the legs is about the width of the tape. At first, the pure little thing was falling all over the place and stumbling like crazy. Now the little one seems to be figuring out how to get around all bundled up.

Cookie had already started teaching the babies to eat. Kinda surprised me since I thought they didn't start eating for 3 days. The one baby that hatched either last night or early this morning was standing in the food dish chowing away and then pecking at the water lol. I forsee a chubby chick! Anyways, wish me luck! Tomorrow is day 21 for Clouds eggs! (I think. Do you count day one as the day you give the hen the eggs or is day one the next day lol)
