Pennsylvania!! Unite!!

I stuck them in the oven on low or a couple hours...
What about this, would you eat it.
I am seriously considering the dog treat thing... just worried Mindy may be traumatized and Dillon will start eyeing up the birds in a whole new way though!

Maybe I should have DH stop at the local Asian eatery to see if anyone interested in buying them instead!? Are they worth selling?

Happy to say that this little hen is on it's way home with anneintheburbs...she hatched on may 31 from a pen of MF Cochin... not sure where those colors came from..

I think her colors would be considered birchen but I only had the MF in that pen at the time. I do have a birchen rooster though, maybe he was a little sneaky.

She's a pretty little hen, I'm sure she will do well in her new flock!

I'm so happy to have the little hen! She is talkative and I will post pics of her soon. I wonder if she's not quite mature yet, her comb seems small and her wattles seems small and not too red. But what do I know, I'm still new to this! She is such a tiny thing! I am figuring out chicken math though...

For those of you who raise heritage turkey breeds, looks like the demand will continue to grow. My DH just ordered me Cooks Illustrated magazine and this month's issue had a few pages dedicated to Heritage turkeys: how to cook them differently, how they are better and why. Might be worth the $ to pick up this issue if you raise them. Here is a link to the method they cook them, the recipe is only in the magazine, but you can watch the video.

I froze some eggs in an ice cube tray because I was thinking there would be a decline in egg laying by my girls this winter.

Today I wanted to move the eggs into a baggie..........but they were hard to get out of the tray .................so.........I left them a bit too long............I forgot they were out..............to defrost a bit

I got a few cubes out okay and put in the freezer but the other defrosted quite a bit.............not entirely but maybe halfway.

Are they safe to refreeze or did I spoil them this way?

I know you cant thaw and then refreeze meat but what about eggs?

this is the first time I am doing this..............hate to get sick or die over frozen eggs..........

I looked up the hatch date, she was from a may 31 hatch...she should have a few weeks till she starts to lay...shouldn't be long though..

I am very anal-retentive about things like this
