Pennsylvania!! Unite!!

I was extra, extra glad to be home after a difficult day at work and then finding 3 CCL chicks waiting for me. Looks like a trio, but they aren't all the way dried and I've called Rhodebars wrong before until they are fluffy. Hoping for pullets of course. I really like our adult pullets, they are the most naturally friendly of all the chickens. Still not "turkey friendly", but very nice for a chicken.

Congrats! Please get some pics when you can!

@SilkieSensation You win, you are definitely more of a trooper than I want to be at this point. I do really enjoy a nice hot shower and bath. Good luck on your progress!

The shower can be as hot or cold as you like it, but consists of a 5 gal bucket sitting on that chair on the left of the bathroom pic with water scooped over your head with a cup. My daughter tried to actually take a bath in the pool base a couple days ago but found out the water gets cold way too fast that way & not enough room to relax...lol

I got 7 eggs today! I've only been averaging about 4 a day for the past month or so. This was great!
The days are getting longer.

Fantastic ! Maybe they are in the holiday spirit.

I collected 45 eggs today, but we have a bit larger flock. I think that's a record for ours.

:th Yeah, I'm currently getting 0 from 7 girls... :lau

The guineas have been mating like CRAZY these past few days, and I've never seen them mate before. This means eggs within the next few weeks, right?

My chickens haven't been mating at all, but the guineas are 25ish weeks old, so they're about laying age. Typically, guineas only lay in spring and summer (no matter what age) but I've heard of guineas that were raised up in flock of chickens (like mine) will start laying in winter.

Do guineas start laying this time of year? I was not expecting any eggs from them until late winter. Maybe I need to make a nest box in there too. I haven't seen them mating, but honestly I don't spend much time there, the noise is awful.

Woke up this morning to the sound of cheeping in the incubator. My first ever CCL chick made it safely out of the egg. I couldn't tell the gender yet, but I'm very excited and now I know for sure the parents are fertile.  :weee
I hope some siblings make it out while I'm at work.

This is such awesome news!! Can't wait for pics.
