I had an opportunity where only one egg was just barely pipped besides one rhodebar that I had been watching since yesterday that looked like it was getting sticky chick. I got everyone that was hatched out and into the brooder...13 so far. I also gathered up the sticky rhodebar and helped to get it out. It wasn't too bad yet but I did have to wet the poor little thing down as I was pulling off the shell and peel hard prices of membrane from its feathers. I'm not sure I got it all but for now, he/she is hanging in the incubator, encouraging the rest of the eggs

Awwww! I especially like the big yellow buddah chick in the center. These chick pictures are making me feel like Spring is right around the corner.

Ugh! Looks like I'm moving again. My landlord is an idiot. She swore she checked & didn't need any permits for our cabin. Now that the price is triple because she didn't get them when she was supposed to she is refusing to get them at all. I'm going to look at a lot Tuesday that I already called about myself & made sure there were no permits needed. Hoping I can get my rv sold in the next week & weather cooperates soon with getting the cabin moved. Guess I'll wait a couple more weeks to fire up the bators...or maybe just order chicks instead. My flock is the lowest it has been in years right now. 8 turkeys, 2 geese, 7 ducks, and about 20-25 chickens. Less than 40 birds total. Feed bill is way lower, but so is my freezer. No spares to eat at the moment.

Maybe you need to get your tucas out of Ohio and back in PA....just my two cents,,,,but, I'd just escrow the rent until the proper permits are in place...any bank can do this for you, and if the landlord tries to evict you, no court would approve....my two cents of legal opinions.....

Hey guys! I've been lurking as often as I can but school is getting really intense right now. I've pretty much been running on E this week, and starting pool class this week isn't helping. Especially since I have it at 8 in the morning. Nothing like a refreshing swim in a crazy cold pool first period when you only got about 4 hours of sleep from studying all night for your Honors Biology test. Any who... Does anyone want some pearl grey guineas? I have 5 available; 2 males, 3 females. 6 months old. Please PM me if interested. Guinea fowl just aren't for me.

I remember having swimming first period. Yuck. Morning like wet hair and a chill all day long lol

I smell like chlorine all day and my skin is sooo dry (as if winter doesn't makw it dry enough)... It's only for 4 weeks though, and we don't have it on 2 hr. delay days. That means we didn't even have it two days this week and I could actually curl my hair and wear makeup.

I also do some crocheting. I taught myself last year from books and Internet. Not hard at all but it can be a little tough on the fingers someone's. I haven't done it in a while though I've been stocking up on yarn. I'm into sewing now since my mom gave me her old sewing machine if anyone is in need of any sales for their hens, I have 13 started so far and will be finishing up more this week

She's my favorite too I haven't officially named her yet but I've been calling her powder puff lol (she's actually white/grey)

Only 4 weeks!? Wow, I had it half the year! But I have to admit, I did love swimming class and chose it in place of gym (I HATED gym) just not first period! Hated having to rush around, to smell chlorine and have wet frizzy hair the rest of the day :/

My niece counted 150 chickens in pens last fall (free ranging doesn't count). We're getting 40 - 50 eggs a day I think.

There must be about 60 chicks of various ages in our basement now. I've got some buyers lined up to sell some of those.

I guess that qualifies as a huge number, right?

Not worth the hassle. Building Dept is telling me my cabin will never pass their inspections here because my ceilings under the too low under the lofts & they won't approve the lofts as bedrooms. The county I'm looking to move to has no Building Dept, no inspections & no permits required. I can live in whatever I want & build whatever I want & no one will ever bother me.
PLUS, the problem lives across the road from me. We have a neighbor who hates our landlord & is trying to force her & her girlfriend (yes, you read that right) to sell him the property. The jerk has literally called every agency they could find in the past 4 months to cause me trouble. They have called: Children's Services, the Game Warden, the Humane Society, the Health Dept, the Building Dept, the Sheriff & 2 food pantries. These are the ones we know for sure. Plus, they called our neighbor who owns the corn field next door to tell him my son was trespassing when he was cutting a tree near the property line & it fell the wrong way & landed partially in the field. He showed up while my son was cutting up the tree trying to clear it off the field. No issue since my son works for the neighbor's cousin, but that's not the point. I'm sick of jerk neighbors. The guy's wife drives by & yells out her car window about my son parking his truck too close to the road. Oh, forgot! She called the township too trying to have his truck towed. He gets stuck in our driveway so made a parking area by our mailbox...perfectly legal...but she didn't like it.
