Went to Cracker Barrel last night. In their store, they had a whole chicken section. It's all 25% off of their inflated prices. I want the wicked chickens sign!

I got the cutest little fake eggs from cracker barrel at christmas for my aunt! She was always admiring my bevy of colorful eggs and these looked so real that next to my fresh eggs my family couldn't tell the difference ^^ until they picked em up I mean I put em in a little basket with some coconut matt/straw and it sits on her kitchen counter by the window ^^ I like their little section but their prices are waaaay high I think ^^

be extra careful folks, lock up on time, do what you have to the wildlife is hungry and food supply is scarce...I will not go into detail but I have taken a hard hit over the last few days, hard enough that for many of you would mean the end of chickens..

my camera's will not work in this cold, cannot keep batteries charged,,but anyone with wildlife knowledge who might be able to help figure out what I am up against, send pm and I will give the details..

We have a farmer a couple miles from us that got hit by fishers and took out almost 30 birds in one night. The PAGC released them 2 or 3 years ago to take care of some other problem and now they are becoming the problem.

thanks for all the offers, there's been someone on watch most of the time since last evening..
for those of you that know my property, whatever it is comes in from the town side and around the shop, I have nothing left in ducks, the three that survived are older males and will be put in freezer due to injury.
i am really concerned that when it comes back and finds the duck pen empty, itmay circle the barn and end up in the chicken area.

some are just plain missing but in this weather and circumstance I do not have hope of them returning.
and oddly enough with all of this my granddaughter noticed that 1 of the little 7 week old kittens is missing.

talk to a neighbor from over the back ridge who reports seeing a couple of coyote, and there's also a new neighbor about half mile away with a couple of big dogs...my bet is on those 2 things or both..but the dogs would of came past the house on the chicken side and the cat food dishes were untouched...

and this will come to an end,,,hopefully I will not offend anyone here but everyone on guard are instructed to shoot to kill.if this is a neighbor dog they will be notified affter the fact. camera should be working some time today also.

guess I am not as toughened to the farmlife as I should be, cause I admit just sitting down on the cold ground of that duck pen and losing it after the second attack..

So sorry for your losses. You do what you have to do when it comes to protecting your property. We've had coyote prints around the coop but they haven't been able to get in. We have found a 5 point buck partially eaten on our wooded property that they have brought down. I've taken to carrying the shotgun when I go to feed since the fox incident a few weeks ago. Good luck and hopefully you get whatever is doing the damage.

So very early this morning, during another bought of insomnia, I was flipping thru the channels and found a movie called Poultrygeist. I watched about 20 minutes of it and laughed.

I got another blue egg (ok, it does look sort of greenish) today. I think it is Miss Vicki Chicky since Mabel is not squatting for me and MVC is.

Wow, I haven't been on the site since early summer, and there are about 12,000 post to read to catch me up with all of you. Needless to say, that won't happen, but I wanted to express my sincere sadness to hear what happen to Wingstone.

. I wish I had a way to get my 4 ducks out to you. Good luck on hunting the culprit.

On a positive note, I did just bring home 4 naked necks, 4 cuckoo marans, and 3 blue cochins. Will be getting more next week! I'll post picks soon.

we are trying to find a positive in all of this..since this area will be empty for a little while..we are gonna redesign things a little and seperate the meatbird house from the duck pen..
DH wants to move the meaties to the other side of the shed on the road side, he thinks it will be better advertising if the customer can watch the birds grow ??
guess I got some springtime fencing projects coming up

Maybe we should plan a BYC "fence raising" party at wing's place.
