Hi Everyone! We are in Chester County and have sold some of our chicks through PIckering (some exhibition line silkies, crested cream legbars and some Bourbon red turkey poults). We love that store and Randy!

Welcome! I'm also in Chester County, we were thinking about raising Bourbon Red this year. How do you like their temperment?

Hey everyone, I'm still alive :) Are anyone's girls picking up on production? I've been skimming, but I skipped 5 pages... I really want to start collecting eggs soon for the Easter HAL but no one is showing any signs of it yet.

we are getting about 15/day.... and have 6 hens with chicks.  so they are keeping busy!

Chippy:

I am getting a few eggs but not many, and I don't remember seeing the roos are covering the girls lately....

My roo has been starting to get a little frisky lately, but the hens aren't having it. So maybe he knows something I don't and they're getting close to starting back up for the year.

I'm getting about 6 a day out of about 30 birds.

Was surprised there was still a utile moisture in the water bowls today. All of mine were anxious to come out for fresh food and water.

The Swedish flowers have been out all day. They really don't seem bothered by the cold, they come out in all weather, dedicatedly seem like a good farmstead bird other than their somewhat smaller size, not a lot of meat for that purpose. And the fact they only lay about every other day, but they have continued laying at least some all winter, 3-4 a at out of about a dozen of them.

Swedish Flowers are so pretty, they're definitely on my "To get" list! :)

We love our Bourbon Reds! We are hatching weekly and you are welcome to come see them or get some poults. We showed our tom at the PA Farm show this year and he took Grand Champion!

We have tried a few other heritage varieties and the Bourbons were obviously our favorite, very docile and friendly. Ours free range daily and are easy to handle.
