I live right outside of Pittsburgh and I'm having a hard time finding Serama chicks. I lost my favorite serama and white silkie a few weeks ago and really want to get a few more. Any ideas?

Did you try Sally Sunshine? She used to have them (or her daughter did)... she isn't on here often but I think she is still on the boards once in a while and probably gets email notifications for PMs and such.

We lost a bunny... maybe 3. Went out to fill the waters this afternoon and almost all of the straw was out of the nest.  One was completely unresponsive and stiff, two others were barely responsive. The other 3 seemed okay. I removed them all from the nest box and filled it back up with straw, put the 3 back in and tried  to warm up the other two in my hands a little. I debated bringing them inside to warm up, but figured they'd be better off with  their siblings and momma (maybe she'd hop in to warm them up and feed them?). Heading out to 4H now so I won't be able to check on them until tomorrow.

As long as you do not see blood pooled in the feet they may be savable, skin to skin is best. I have walked around many places with baby bunnies in the bra

I tried rubbing the weaker ones in m hands last night and that's when I got a slight response. Guess should have kept at it...I wonder if there is any chance at this point, I just came in an all of the babies are cold and not moving. Looks like mama had been in the nest at some point and the babies are moved around and not huddled up any more. I didn't notice any blood pooled around the feet though. Maybe I'll bring the whole nest in and stick it under heat lamp. If there are any signs of life after I get my human baby down for a nap I can do some skin to skin with the bunnies.

Be careful, their skin is very thin and burns easily, best would be a heating pad with a towel on top of it, you want a slow warm up not a fast one

Need numbers from those wanting chicken ( Anne )
Chicken should be around memorial day, this batch is growing slower, May be due to the weather. $2 a pound cleaned and bagged ( not freezer bags, you will need to repack )
Duck around 4th of July, most likely $3 a pound, same packaging
Rabbit around mid June at $15 a piece, discounts for larger orders.

Sorry about the bags but most people who I questioned would rather I keep the cost down even if they have to do a little of the work.
Either pm me or find me on facebook

Blood pooled in the feet = pink toenails? I think they are all gone. I wish I would have brought them in last night, could have saved at least the three that seemed okay yesterday. I understand that losses happen especially for a first litter, but my daughter is going to be devastated... she was upset last night thinking that we lost 2.

How soon can we try again?

Well it worked.   I demonstrated how the nipple water worked in front of the chicks by tapping it and they began to use them but i noticed not much water was coming out.   I suspected an airlock so I put a small pin hole in the top of the bottle and BAM!  They all began to eventually peck at the nipple and get drinks. Shortly they all joined in except my two little bantam mottled cochins.  Amazing,  the power of positive reinforcement .  I'm sure the banties will get it soon.  Thanks to everyone for the advice.

We use a sports bottle that you have to pull up the top to let air in. When we took a car trip with 8 babies, it was super helpful as we pushed it down so all the water wouldn't leak out during the drive). It was 9 hrs each way, I decided chickens were pretty hardy after that.

If she lost all of them you can rebreed now, if she is still nursing any, I would wait till they are a couple of weeks old. You want the doe to have about 2 weeks between weening a litter and having another

Any porcelain duccle or bantam cochin eggs near Lancaster? Haven't heard back from someone in awhile and my sister wants to hatch them for her middle school class. I would be paying for the eggs and keeping the chicks after.
