i like the openness of that, have you had any issue with ice slide off from the house roof. I would be concerned of it crashing down...even a little pile of snow sliding off a house roof can have a lot of force to it

Not from the roof of the house onto the coop (is that what you meant?) the roof of our house is not very steep so it just melts and drains via the gutter. We have had snow slide off the chicken coop roof, it made quite the pile this winter and nearly impeded opening those back doors to give them food and water. It hasn't been a safety issue, I'm only in front of those doors for about a minute a day and if I see it is melty, I knock the snow down before I walk under the end of the roof. I'd rather the snow slide off instead of building up and adding so much weight to the roof.

While this discussion is running, what do you think of clear roofing panels, like this:

We were considering covering all or part of our run with it. Good idea or no? I'm not sure how to attach hardware cloth to it.

It's about the same price to go with galvanized metal and that is much sturdier. I use a clear tarp on the sides to allow for light. That works well in the winter when the angle of the sum is lower, the tarp comes off when it gets warm so the breeze can go through.

Sounds like a fox to me.

When is your next trip east, I may have a couple more orps. Someone was interested, but hasn't gotten back to me for days. If they don't show interest before you come through these parts, I can help enable.

Heading east June 25th, haven't decided how long we'll stay yet. Any chance that pretty blue with black wing tips is both available and a female? I thought I saw a bit of a comb in the picture, but I'm only interested in pullets.

Anyone have any extra Delaware pullets? Location doesn't matter since I'll be trekking cross state in a few weeks, I could even switch it up and take 80 home instead of the turnpike.

That little blue and black one is about 3 weeks old. I have a similar one two weeks old. I haven't even tried to determine sex.

Yes, most of mine are available, except the albinos, and the ones I think are likely to have the gene, and my one blue Swedish flower hen pullet.

There are probably thirty of various ages from 1 to 14 weeks here, not all sexed yet.

We just threw some chicken poop in our garden yesterday. Today, the corn is popping up, the sugar snap peas are up, the green beans are exploding lol. Is it coincidence? Lol
we had a surprise pumpkin last year. Used it for a jack o lantern. It tasted awful!

For the poison ivy, try some tea tree oil. It'll dry it out and dull the itch.

Tried that, still not as effective as jewel weed. And I love tea tree oil!

plantain will take the itch out, and may help to dry it up..... glad I do not get that stuff..

Thanks, I know I have some of that growing. Are you still doing the meaties wing?

Embarrassing for me, funny for the rest of you. I'm started getting itchy right where my underwear meets my thigh and above my waistband. Sure enough, I got poison ivy there too. I'm pretty sure it was from adjusting my now-too-big pants when I was pulling the weeds. Nothing more attractive than a grown woman scratching down her pants! :lau

My sister wiped herself poison ivy. :-D
