Pennsylvania!! Unite!!

Crappy day, crappy week.
Tired of always being told I'm wrong. If I wanted that, i'd still be married.

Goodbye Pennsylvania peeps.

I'm sorry you have been having a bad time recently.... but I absolutely DON'T want you to go anywhere!! You belong here and would be horribly missed!

I have to say, I never get tired of looking at this coop. VERY good job. And it's probably a good thing that the roof isn't more south facing, helps keep it cooler in the summer.
Aw, thank you! I'm still pretty impressed with myself that I was able to build it all by myself in two weeks while 8-9 months pregnant. I took the 'winter wall panels' off a few weeks ago and was surprised, I had forgotten how much I liked it.

Hope things turn around for you, I'll be in touch via pm about the orpington. Am I still picking up a rooster for Silkie?

Has anyone in western/central PA gotten chicks from the place in Kittanning that posts on CL all the time? It's all I'm seeing for a local source for Delawares.

I did cave a bit and moistened the shell/membrane because it just seemed like it was not getting anywhere. Wiggled it loose but not out and stuck it under Niko for the night. We'll see how it works in the morning.

How goes it this morn? I need to say, I am smiling every time I read your updates. Did you moisten the membrane with ointment instead of water so it doesn't dry out right away? I find that helps. Although for the record, I've never helped a broody hatch eggs, other than put them in the incubator if she leaves the nest mid zip. Then I tuck them back under at night and let her work her broody magic.

Just hatched our first ever quail. We're not looking to keep them if anyone is interested. I've got chicks hatching right now that need the space.

If you are talking about Freehling Farms (which I think you are) that's the place I got my birds from roughly 5 weeks ago. I picked up 4 SLW and 3 BA and so far haven't had any problems with them and them seem to have gotten the sexing right on all 7 birds. They seemed like nice enough people and were very helpful.

Luckily you're on the other side of the state because I'd be interested in taking the quail off your hands.

hey now, not all wives are that bad..
i am with you on letting nature take it's course, which is why I keep my mouth shut when someone is looking for advice, i know that new people may need some help but when you do things differently than 99% of the people, you tend to get beat up for your responses.
