Freehling farms. They have a Facebook account. They were great to deal with. Since it was first time I had bought chickens he took the time to answer any questions I had. It's a husband wife that I dealt with. It is your typical farm but all of his chicks looked healthy with their cages clean. He had an assortment of turkey duck and a lot of stuff. Lol sounds like I'm advertising but yea. That's where I got them and it was an overall positive experience.

that's where I got my started pullets I was not that happy because there is a bald dry skin area on my pullets back and then he explained that a rooster was riding her now I like them again lol but if I get anymore I will buy from them

Thats where I got my birds as well, they were 1 & 2 weeks old when I bought them, now they are almost 3 months. I have Silver Laced Wyandottes and Black Australorps. Like you said they were great to deal with and its probably a good thing I don't live closer to them .

I was just wondering if anyone else's chickens do this ....I have 16 glw's and I'll be down at the run and 2 hens in particular follow me everywhere I was outside the fence today looking at them run around and play and these 2 just stay at the fence with me well anyway I wasn't really paying them much attention was focused on the other chickens and one jumped up on top of the fence right in front of me and sat there like it wanted to be held lol so I picked her up gave her some attention and put her back in the run only to have her jump back up on the fence

It is great that you have a couple of buddies in the coop...we have a couple who act similar. Most hens are at least very curious about silly human activities but sometimes you luck into one which truly seems to enjoy human interaction rather than just viewing us as a source of goodies and entertainment. Enjoy them! It never ceases to amaze me how many different personalities the birds develop...

So I'm training the chooks to put themselves to bed the last couple nights. I have 7 birds and 6 of them will put themselves to bed but the 7th girl hasn't done it the last two nights (two nights is how long I've been trying this.) All the others will go up the ramp into the coop but the last one will go about halfway up the ramp and stand there, than get down and wander around a little and than repeat. All the while she keeps making chicken noises. Any suggestions on getting her to go in by herself or will she eventually pick it up? She's easy enough to catch and put in there.

Anybody have any suggestions on who I should talk to about finding some blue plymouth rocks? My barred rock girls are so smart and sweet, I need more colors! Also, hellooo from southeastern PA - Glenmoore area, been lurking quietly for awhile.

Yep, I have one hen who is particularly lovey. Sometimes you just get lucky! She will join me in the hammock if I call her! If I hold her on my lap and I massage her behind her head and on her neck, she will close her eyes and relax. Also, one thing I have never heard of before, if I am sitting or squatting and she is nearby, she will stand behind me and peck/scratch with her beak on my back. I know she's not looking for bugs, because it doesn't matter what I am wearing, she is always trying to get my attention, I think! I have another chicken who was hand raised with the lovey one, and it never likes to be touched or held. She runs away from me all the time. They are all different!

You may have to put her in the close the coops for a week or so until she gets the hang of it. She will come around. They learn pretty fast.

No blue rocks, I believe they are pretty hard to find, but I have Blue Ameraucanas and Blue Copper Marans.
