Wanted to post a few pictures of my precious little flock. On a side note after reading about black australorps i think I could potentially have a black jersey giant because I was reading that australorps won't have yellow on the bottom of their feet. 3 are slate colored. The 4th is yellow as the Cochins. And Huey my guinea. I have no clue what sex he/she is

We love flock photos! :thumbsup They look lovely. I have one Black Australorp, she is an awesome chicken. Her name is Mary Poopins. :lol: it's hard to see in the pic, but she does have slate/ black feet. She is also very "talkative", and I know someone else said that about their BAs.

He has excellent quality stock! I just got eggs from him today to put under my third broody this year. Thanks @dheltzel ! I put a dozen eggs under her.

So our friend came over today and showed us this today. Can some one explain this. The australorp is just lying there still as can be
 
Nope that's one of mine. Her name is quill and she is perfectly fine. She is a fiesty one at that. About a minute after that photo she jumped up and ran around. I gave her some mill worms as a treat. But oue friend put her on her back and took a piece of chalk and drew a line away from her beak. You can kinda see it in the photo. After tracing the line a few times he let her go and she just laid there not moving. Like in a trance. It was the weirdest thing. After a minute or so she got up and came over to me for a treat. I was so amazed I tried it on one of my GL cochin roosters. It worked on him too. And I tried it on Huey my guinea fowl. Worked on all of them. It was the weirdest thing I've ever seen.

I think it's because you're asserting your dominance... when they're held like that they think "oh no, that big thing did this and I better submit and not move", the same way as when you hold an aggressive roo down to the ground and make him submit. When you let go, he sits there like that for a minute until they're sure you're done with them.

That's my guess,
