Howdy From Chester Co! What do you have and what are you looking to add?!

You know it's a horrible shame that here I am attempting to find a roo and someone had the nerve to dump a roo and run instead of doing the right thing. Well now that I've joined the bandwagon with being annoyed with the fact that someone would just dump a rooster, Does anyone in western pa area possibly have a Black Australorp rooster? Or a silver laced wyandotte, but would def prefer an australorp.

I don't have any extra Roos, but I do have fertile eggs if you are able to incubate.

Okay, quick question. I have two chicks that just turned two weeks old with a broody. When I walk in the coop, the one lifts his head and makes the "boo BOOP boop boop boop-boop" noise that the roo makes when he sees something unusual. I now know he's a cockerel because of it and assume the other is a pullet because she doesn't make the noise.

The thing is, I can't ever really remember my brooder babies doing this. Is this something that a little baby cockerel learns from dad, or is it instinct?

It's a shame you are far away, I am overrun with roos, including a lot of very pretty ones. Not the breeds you are looking for, but I'm pretty sure I could talk you into one of the ones I do have. I tell people that Welsummers are the prettiest, and they are gorgeous, but there is a black Ameraucana that snuck into the ones I raised this spring and so I free ranged him and he is gorgeous when the sun hits him and he sparkles with green and purple irridescence. All the lovely qualities of a BA, plus blue or green eggs in all his chicks.
