Wrong group to ask about whether to get an animal, lol. But I can't help, I know nothing about them except my son wants them. Yeah, we'll probably end up with pigs...

So, happy and sad today. We were practically given two horses yesterday. A quarter horse and a Tennessee Walker. The girl was moving and really wanted my kids to have them. We are getting the horses, saddles, and all tack for practically nothing and she is getting the peace of mind that they will be loved and adored. That's the happy.

The sad is I think my cat is gone. He is one of the ones that we found dumped as a kitten. He has been gone a few days and I'm not convinced he is coming back. (He is neutered, so he shouldn't be chasing ladies.) He usually sticks pretty close.

sorry about your cat...one of our neutered males disappeared last year and I can understand what you are going through...the loss of any of our pets tears me up but not knowing is so hard. I really hope he shows back up with an adventure to tell you about!!

It's a shame you are far away, I am overrun with roos, including a lot of very pretty ones. Not the breeds you are looking for, but I'm pretty sure I could talk you into one of the ones I do have. I tell people that Welsummers are the prettiest, and they are gorgeous, but there is a black Ameraucana that snuck into the ones I raised this spring and so I free ranged him and he is gorgeous when the sun hits him and he sparkles with green and purple irridescence. All the lovely qualities of a BA, plus blue or green eggs in all his chicks.

Dheltzel I wish I lived closer as well. But kinda glad I don't my family would probably be over run lol.

Chaos I appreciate the post. I gave the lady a call and went out there yesterday. She ended up having two of them one doesn't crow yet. the other does. Both of them are pretty ill have to get a picture up.


Btw. Posting this on the free as well but I have two little GL Cochin Roo's that if anyone would like they are free. If not I will be doing what is right and keeping them all seperated till at the right age to go to soup pot.

Oh my goodness! The neighbor let her flock out this morning (monkey see, monkey do with my neighbors). I went ahead and let my crew out. While I was at the side of the house, I heard a commotion. I went to check the neighbor flock, and Steven comes strutting back over! Too funny! There are four roosters (that I know about) over there! The last thing those girls want is another rooster!
Now I'm playing warden. Steven just tried to go back there.

Question.... So I picked up a barnyard mix bantum mom and 12 chicks. We've had them a few weeks they Are beyond adorable but as far as sexing them goes how safe would it be to assume the ones with combs are the males and the rest females? Pics of mom and baby's...

I feel stupid, but the cat showed up tonight! I was getting feed out and he walked by me like nothing had happened. I have to check him over, but he ate like he is starved. I'm relieved. I had an empty feeling that I would never see him again.

I got 5 white hens (one is for a friend). Whites aren't that common, and are more expensive. I got them for 12 bucks (super cheap) and they're way better quality than any of hers e

Don't feel stupid at all...I would have thought the same. I am thrilled he showed up with no obvious problem (other than an empty stomach!)
