Guys, I am so upset. After all the losses we had with our bunnies this year (first litter in March lost to 'polar vortex' when too much bedding fell through the wire; 2nd litter we lost 4 when we were on vacation and two more to heat so only had one survive), I was really looking forward to her fall litter. I thought she was due on Thursday or Friday so I wanted to put the next box in the cage yesterday but I haven't been on the computer all weekend/week which is where I keep my calendar so I forgot to do it yesterday. I go out this morning to feed everyone and I see fur in her cage... I immediately run to get the nest box thinking she just started pulling fur, but when I get back with it I see that she already had her babies last night and they were on the ground under the cage (must have gone through the bigger openings in the side walls). Another litter lost and it is completely my fault.

Sorry for your loss

The peas have gotten so much bigger trains this year.

Most expensive chickens on the farm!
(Reese line Cream Legbars, straight from Greenfire Farms - love the crests on the pullets)

Better views of the cockerels

Looking for a treat - "regular" Legbars pullets, with 2 Rhodebars

Those JR boys are looking pretty good by my estimation....my lone young'in has a bit more 'red' than I'd like...losing my original roo has been a major set back...may need to talk to GF........

sorry for your loss...
I know it's too late for this litter, but I have begun using my cell phone calendar feature for things like this. When I have an event due, such as a hen hatching or a need to worm or otherwise treat some animal I put it on my calendar as an appointment, and set a reminder to notify me before it is 'due', and sometimes I have it provide multiple reminders. Doing this along with still marking it on our dedicated animal calendar (generic ugly bank calendar with big date blocks we can make multiple notes on which hangs beside our mudroom door) has helped reduce my screw ups greatly. Having an audible reminder the day before, or maybe just hour before really helps me stay on task with things I need to do weeks from now. Just remember to set the reminders to activate at a time you would normally have the phone on or nearby.

The Legbar roos are so gorgeous! Unfortunately, I cannot have any roo, or I'll be in big trouble. Your Legbar pullets are cute too. Oh no, I need self-control.

I never knew that Rees line CCLs look so different. I definitely love their looks much more than the "regular" CCLs (sorry girls). I seriously need to learn to vaccinate chickens myself.

Sorry for your loss. I find setting alarms on the cell phone is very helpful.

@emorems0 I'm so sorry to hear of your loss :(

There are a couple apps I use on my tablet that I've found extremely useful with reminders. Cozi is like a compete calendar/planner with reminders, a journal, to do list, shopping list etc. You set it up with a password and if you share the password/family name with anyone you want connected to it, they can access it, make appointments and date changes and stuff like that. Anyone linked to it will get alerts and notifications (you can choose who resides what reminders and alerts). Works great for a family. I also use the hatch a batch app for all my hatches to keep track of what hatches on what date etc.

@emorems0 Sorry to hear of your loss with the bunnies.

I finally got my big birds moved out of there temporary coop into there permanent one. They weren't none to happy about being manhandled although Cleo handled in better than T-Bone (apparently he didn't much care for the indignity of the whole ordeal). Although with them in the big coop now I can get in there with them to socialize more and hopefully they won't be as skittish/standoffish.
