Photo bomb everyone! Babies from so far this year and some turkey pics :)

It was so nice out yesterday that the oldest babies in the brooder got to go out and spend some time in the sun.

Adam strutting his stuff or Mary.

Sweet Pea, telling me all about her day.

BCM pullet

BCM cockerel

BCM group shot.

SILKIES! I'm trying to decide if these two are boys or girls even though I know I'm wasting my time trying lol. They're roughly 10 weeks old now. Oh, and they're crests on their heads are covered in FF that's why they looks funny lol.

If anyone has need of a BCM cockerel, I have quite a few. They would be great to make some olive eggers. They're still young too.

Last night, I went to check the chicks, and a hen was sitting on the gate. I did move her, but only because her butt was over the chicks' food. I am pretty sure that was Reba, but it doesn't matter. I knew I had to put up netting to keep the chickens out of the brooder area. That just confirmed it.
This morning Sheryl Crow is missing. I haven't checked the storage area (because I just thought of it fifteen minutes ago) but I am not holding my breath. The chicks seem to all be there.
I want to find Sheryl one way or another so I know what happened. She will be missed because she was my brazen girl. Very food motivated. The 18 chicks will make up for her absence though.

Aww, I hope you find her :/

Quote: Thanks. I will be going back out in a minute. It is rainy here (and since you are fairly close, I assume there). It won't be getting any lighter out.

I like their buff color.

I think you and dheltzel are right about Rhodebars are naturally tame. Ruff-Ruff really acts like a puppy who begs for food and likes to be pet. All my chicks are friendly, but Ruff-Ruff is the only one don't mind to be hold.

GM all:

I've been off line for a while. Hope everyone is doing well! See quite a bit is going on....I guess spring fever has hit...

As always still having fox issues, and will be building fort knox when things warm up...my girls (except two) will not fly over 4' fencing....

LadyHawk gave me a few Red Dorkings (a fox got one)....and I have one viable hatching egg from 48 shipped from upstate NY, (had a power outage on Day 4).
I also picked up 7 birds from DH: x4 CCLs , x3 BCMarans, they are about 4 weeks at this point...
Welcome back! Yup, spring is here and many of us have baby chicks.

She was in a nest box when I went out. I hate to think it, but I think what I was thinking, but was too mean to say is what happened. But, that doesn't make a lot of sense. I realy really hope she was in the storage area, and just happened to figure out how to get back to the pen a minute before I went back out.

I lock my coops/pens when I am leaving overnight. Often when I am leaving for the day. The neighbors/cousins are that untrustworthy. When I went outside, the neighbor's chickens were out. She knows how I feel about her letting her chickens in my yard (they love it over here!). I can't be sure that Sheryl was in the coop last night. I already (think) I said that I don't count all the time, and was preoccupied with the chicks. There is a chance that the neighbor coughht my food motivated girl, and put her in her coop. Though if she had wanted to steal her, you would think she would have kept her inside... Unless her mother convinced her to let her out.

I really felt bad for thinking it earlier, and hate it more that I am really thinking that the neighbor did take her.

Stake! Stake! OMG! So glad to see you!

Look in dark corners and under things or in any storage loft she could reach....if no signs of lost feathers or predator activity it may be that she is hiding on a nest somewhere . i'm hoping that this is the case!

I'm so glad she's back! Chickens can be such escape artists, maybe she was at the neighbors and they didn't realize just how determined she could be about getting home...
