I agree that cuckoo is a more accurate description of his appearance. ..but then again, one of the 'pure bred' Barred Rock hens we have is from a hatchery and looks more cuckoo than most Dominique do! LOL
My other BR hen is from show stock and the difference is night and day when you see them together!
And in other news, just got back home from a week away and my 5 year old Silkie (Mary) is gone. House sitter told me she found white feathers out front, but I looked and looked and saw no feathers. I will hold out hope that she's snuggled in somewhere hatching eggs. It just breaks my heart to lose one with a name.
Okay, that's deceptive. I thought her real name was Sleeping Beauty.
@Fisher I too am getting soft. I've got this counter chick, that I feel sure is a Black Copper Marans Pullet and she is still alone. I was going to put her with my younger chicks, but they are going to be sold this week and I just don't have the heart to part with her. I wish I knew a 4-Her or show family that would want her. She's flighty while in her cage, but calm and sweet when I roost her on my hand.
