The SPR hatch is complete. Five seems to be okay. Number six was a malpo I finished getting out a little over an hour ago. I started it around one.
I thought number seven was a late quitter, but locked it down anyway. It was in fact dead.

You are very welcome! Very glad you got 6, especially with the incubator issues you had early on! Will look forward to a group shot when everyone is up and fluffy.
 
Mine came express too--my post office assumed me that they would arrive the next morning --or at the latest in 24 hours. They came the morning AFTER they were supposed to so they were 42 hours in the mail. No heat packs. I think that was the problem. It was heart rending, but the survivors are happy and gorgeous English Orpingtons.The black on is a definate male so he will need a good home before he crows. He is a walking golf ball!

Have 128 new chicks out of the incubators already, including 4 Lavender Silkied Ameraucanas. These were from the pen that was not fertile at all until I swapped out the cockerel, that did the trick.
 
I just got 5 new silkies that I will be breeding one is a red and four a splash, I only took the red one though because it was the last one the person had so it would have been all by itself until the following week on Wednesday. Plus he did it was a hen so we'll see so it can just go with my mixed flock or she might be able to go in with my breeder splash silkies I just would have to know what eggs are hers.
 
I only have ducks and I am new to that, however I love reading everything that everyone writes and a lot of stuff you write about the chickens can work with ducks and of course there are duck tails too. I am trying very hard to understand all the letters and chicken types you guys talk about but sometimes I'm so lost lol... I will keep trying tada. Glad everyone is having good hatches ;) wish you weren't all so far away lol

I've ordered shipped chicks twice now and have not had any losses (on mailing day anyway). I think most places that ship day old chicks have a minimum of 15 birds in the warm season, I know MurrayMcMurray has a minimum of 25 in the winter months. They need the body heat from the other chicks to keep them warm enough for shipping. I think the low number of chicks was probably part of the problem. Also, the extra day in transit probably took its toll as well.
