It kinda puts things in perspective for you when your food could eat youYeah, I'm glad I haven't seen really huge snakes or spiders...![]()
They are adorable! So am I correct in thinking those 2 are from your eggs? If so then that is great! Did all 6 of the SPRs make it or did the weak one pass?
Yes, my eggs. Thank you.
All six chicks are well too. I was planning on getting a picture of them today.

For my two cents, its much more important to communicate with your direct neighbors....if they are ok with chicks, then things will go smoother....most towns have regs that allow a few pets....I'd suggest getting x4 to 6 to start..chickens are flock animals singles is not good for the bird....you will encounter attrition (predators, illnesses, genetic defects, Roos) to your original purchase and you want to make sure there is at least 3 and it may take months to really know whats going on...hope this helps
Gosh our weather is ridiculous. 40° oneday and 80° another. Wish it'd stay a happy medium![]()
I know some people like snakes and all, but a good one is a dead one to me![]()
I do have to marvel at snakes, but I wouldn't want to hold them, pet them, and let them alive![]()
Anne,I agree with Stake, I am not allowed to have chickens in my township. But I checked with all of my neighbors and they were fine with it, so long as I didn't have any roosters and that they were not smelly. No complaints so far except the occasional fence jumper. My neighbors actually love seeing the chickens running around.
Thanks! I'm going to be leaving this township soon (hopefully!) anyways, so I'm not too concerned. I will be looking for chicken friendly locations for my next home! I agree with your Dad, its so annoying dealing with townships that have goofy regulations. I think our township is similar too, that you are required to have 5 or 10 acres to have chickens.Anne,
Just don't draw attention to yourself. I inquired about the ordinances and zoning in my township and started getting questioned about my address and etc. Ridiculous zoning laws. Need 5 acres and then something like one animal to the acre. Obviously written by someone that had no clue or tolerance for something like a few chickens and thinks their food comes from the grocery store. My property is secluded enough to avoid detection but I would be breaking the "law". "Bureaucracy BS" as my dad labels it.
