Wow!
I ask because I don't know! Aren't you worried about predators that early in the morning? I assume it is still pretty dark out.

I've been slipping lately....I keep forgetting to shut the run door at night. It's going to come back and bite me in the butt if I keto forgetting :/

It's usually light out. It was dark and cloudy this morning. I don't worry in the morning because my dog is out and about. I worry more at night that I don't get it closed early enough now. I usually at the barn till 8 and it's dark at 7 pm now!! I hate winter coming

X2! I can't stand that is getting dark earlier. Before we know it, it'll be dark by 5 again :(

I get it! I mean about the dog keeping them safe. I REALLY get it about winter!
Your second post didn't quote, but I would let mine out around eight anymore. If I don't refill the food and water the night before, it is about eight. Maybe sooner depending on the sun. It needs to be really up. I do not let them out that early normally, because my Pekin eggs and sometimes Muscovy have been missing. Everyone stays in long enough for the ducks to usually lay. I have been getting my Muscovy eggs now, but the Pekin is still hit or miss. She may not be laying every day anymore. She is older now. Only two, but... You know. More adult.

I caught and treated with Ivermectin, over 150 birds this morning, and moved about 60 more to new housing. Most are much happier in their new digs (it was a downgrade for some to move off pasture into permanent coops). I'm tired.

Wow, my hands hurt thinking about that. Thanks for your effort!

well, Zippy was kinda tough but not as tough as I expected. Tasted great.

Glad at least it was good.

GM all:

Cold, damp and windy here....the young'ins were refusing to leave the coop....and the big girls only came out for some scratch then retreated....

funny thing is I am already planning for the spring....

It was damp and chilly this morning. But I guess we shouldn't complain, considering how huge that storm was.

Wow!

Don't be naughty! Close that run door or you'll be kicking yourself later. I hope to never make that mistake again...

I moved the SPR chicks finally. I was out at the right moment. Mom (the other mom went back to laying weeks ago) was settling them in (no one else was in the coop to be in the way), and it was light enough to see. They are not happy, and even the other mom went over to see them. Ditto what Dennis said. They are not free ranging anymore, and that stinks for them But, I will be going in soon enough to pull out the boys I won't keep. They can free range again until it is time for camp.

Wow, egg production is down to 2 a day.
In other Zippy news, husband made soup out of the leftover carcass. Mmmmm, really good soup!

Great on the soup! I am still swimming in eggs. I can't remember if my ee from the last flock stopped laying sooner or not. Anyone have input on that? Mother and daughter have not laid in about two weeks. It is too odd that they would be laying somewhere else when all the others are laying in the coop.

Anyone that comes around Clearfield, swing by for free eggs.
