Pennsylvania!! Unite!!

Yours are beautiful and certainly more show quality than ours...the little guy is a silkier mix...we call him Beaker because of the top knot...lol

Thank you. Angel hatched from shipped eggs (off eBay of all places) and supposedly from show lines. Blue was from a local swap. Hopefully, they can give me some beautiful babies. Breaker is very cute :)

No such luck, I found a big pile of silkie feathers this morning

Jewel will be missed. Poor Blue seems lost without her, they were always inseparable. As soon as I release the new welbars from Dheltzel, I'll be seperating Blue and Angel and waiting for eggs since they're my last two bearded silkies.

Auro:

So sorry to hear...not to be too preachy, but once they are around they will not leave...you may not see anything for a month, then they will find an 'opening' to attack...

I am still trying to get my CCL roo back in the game,,,,he hasn't eaten in two days and I got him to drink a bit when I dunk his beak in water.....(getting scrambled eggs in about 10 mins)....though I was able to disrupt the attack, he still may not make it.....I dunno...

Thank you. I do worry about a return visit. I hope your roo snaps out of it and recovers

What a crazy day already! Would a hawk leave a pile of feathers when catching a chicken? Because, i caught this guy today! He managed to get himself stuck in the chicken run. Thankfully, he was too panicked trying to get out that he didn't notice my two hens that were in there worn him. I got the girls or and caught him with a total. We'll be driving a few miles and releasing him. Hubby wants to keep him because he's cool lol.

Crazy that you managed to catch him....unfortunately I think it would take closer to a few hundred miles to remove him from being a future problem for you. They range too far and he will most likely return in short order.

It's a girl!!! :weee :ya

We found a 'foreign' egg in Jo's box late this morning (she is on her 4th brood of the year) and since Janeway is also broody and Gracie is still raising her last group we only had 2 possible suspects in that coop.... Muffin and Little Foot are both Silkies (almost 7 months old) who haven't crowed but also hadn't laid...so we have been hoping....

So I reviewed the security camera and found the culprit, my Step-Son will be happy since he has really liked this little bird since the first time he held her. I kept warning him to not get his hopes up, but now am tickled to be able to tell him his 'Muffin' is a girl!

Anyone know anything about falconry or how to become a falconer? From what I've read already, you need to trap one and train it...I've always been interested in doing it but never looked in to it.

WOW!

I had a friend who did it. I think you need a permit.

I've been reading here for a little while. I guess you need to find a sponser, take a written test and get a hunting license to get a permit to catch one. I'm going to go head out and release this guy. He's really cool but I need to do it the right way if I'm going to go about doing it for real. This is definitely a neat experience though. I'm just glad he didn't get any of my birds this time.
