Pennsylvania!! Unite!!

I know, I know, pics or it didn't happen. LOL. I didn't post a pic last night because I didn't want to put other children's pictures on the internet, but then I realized that those photos are going to be on Penn State's web site along with our 4-H and all of the parents have signed off on it...so here goes:

Took some time to be silly:

Got to the Louisville Slugger Museum

This was such a great opportunity for the kids, there was also Bowling and Pizza night, and with the exception of a few meals, ALL paid for. The kids transportation and hotels along with the Louisville Slugger Museum, Churchill Downs, bowling and the countless hours of training were all covered. I just can't say enough about 4-H and what great opportunities it offers to our kids at practically no cost. Expense is all relative, but having kids involved in sports like ice hockey and gymnastics and the expenses involved with the travel and equipment, 4-H just amazes me.

We processed our extra tom today since it's supposedly the last nice day that were going to have. He dressed out apps 16 lbs. He's going to be our Christmas turkey and hopefully we'll be some good eating :)

The hatchery is Privett Hatchery....I will probably be doing a spring order with DH......if you are interested, ping either Dennis or me
Yes, I am planning to either do a private order from Privett or combine an order with Pughtown Agway. Letting them handle picking up and handling the chicks has some appeal, even if there is a small price difference. We also might be able to get them at more convenient times rather than a single large order.

I would LOVE to have a couple olive egger pullets if you end up with chicks in the spring! They are so much more expensive from the hatchery then EE's. I like the idea of a multi colored basket of eggs!

You can count me in to the chick train this spring to make a trip from central PA to Malvern. I have friends there (graduated from GVHS) and can easily make it down for a trip.
When you are over this way, I will have lots of chicks if the timing of Stake's hatches don't meet your schedule. I will have sexed chicks (autosexing or sexlinks) to produce all the colors of eggs - blue, olive, green, white, brown (dark and medium).

Absolutely! I still recall in vivid detail a 4-H judging trip I took to Nationals in Atlanta, GA. It was for horticulture, not poultry, and I placed 4th. I still have the award plaque and treasure that trip. The kids you took to KY will always remember this, I bet it will rank as one of the greatest experiences of their lives. You and all the 4-H leaders are to be commended for your efforts.
