How old is too old for turkey? As far as toughness goes. I'm not going to eat my main Tom, but just to know for the future.

I highly recommend the grays so far. My girls have not begun laying yet, but my gray is the first one to squat for me. They are also becoming very friendly considering they were not hand raised. Hoping for great egg production! I want to have such a variety of birds, and I am well in my way!
Whew! I hear ya. We did our thanksgiving dinner last night and I was on my feet all day yesterday, and even did cooking on Friday too. It all turned out excelllent though!
We got heavy winds and sleet and/snow last night. Have a light coating this morning, on one side of the house, haha.

I did some online research about sexing barred rocks by head spots, and really cannot tell the difference. The feathers are relatively easy though.
I like egg color variation, and I like barred birds. And I don't worry about flighty personality too much. My two legbar girls were most flighty in the flock but also most people friendly.

Amazing job! One foot leave bedding for the entire coop is lots of work.

Birds all look very happy. Great job! They sure put in some weight for winter. Such fluffy balls.

I'm not making big thanksgiving dinner this year. We're going to my in law's.
