Pennsylvania!! Unite!!

So, I let my flock out today since it is a bit warm. One of my roos, his waddle looks blue/grey towards the bottom. The other roo looks normal and bright red.
Any thoughts on what/why? I've never noticed his waddle being anything other then pure red before. Is this frostbite?

Wer:

My original CCL roo had that happen to him....his wattles got infected and swelled up(looked like a large grape in each wattle)....it made him dizzy and he couldn't bend over to eat or drink...I had to bring him inside, medicate and placed food and water on a box at beak level...after a week he bounced back....

Good morning everyone! The flock is enjoying some treats this morning. They are all happy with this warming up we are having.

He's destined for the freezer. If that happens I will just have my hubby butcher him now instead of later. Thanks for the info. I don't want him to suffer.

Dupli and Zippy were both part of the 2015 hatch from the eggs I got from Dennis. We just didn't need 2 roosters. On that note, a lot of YouTube and homestead blogs recommend slitting the bird's throat and having it bleed out as a supposedly more humane way to cull rather than quickly chopping its head off. Seems to me that Zippy didn't have the advertised pain free death. Husband says never again. Quick is better. Thoughts?

I agree. I tried the throat slit and did NOT like the process. It seemed too slow to me. It's so much easier and quicker to just get the hatchet.

How are your silkies going in the bator @stake ?

Exciting stuff!! Hope they all hatch out

So this morning I heard my Tom gobbling, and he sounded like he was gobbling into the woods. I looked out and saw brown turkeys, wild turkeys! My turkeys were out too and my Tom was gobbling back and forth with them as they were wandering through. I was a little nervous that my guys would follow them into the woods, but they stayed back. Can Toms get aggressive and territorial? I didn't see any fighting at all, but it does make me wonder. Funny stuff!
